Didn't you post this a while ago? If you're winning on 200NL, go back to playing like you did when you were in the micros. You'll consistently beat 1/2NL. 2/5NL is pretty much the same thing except a little less fish. If you're going in March, have fun. Lots and lots of fun. March Madness = ATM's with legs. You'll be able to find the people who know what they're doing. And again, if you're winning in 200NL, they'll know quickly that you're good and stay out of your way as long as you stay out of theirs.

What timing! Okay. March Madness for NCAA Basketball is one of the biggest times in Vegas because lots of sport fanatics go and bet on the spreads and over/under for almost all the games. On the down times, they play HOLD 'EM! These are the spewing monkeys you dream of when you play 1/2NL. They'll go all in when you get a set and they have middle pair if you look weak. It's ****ing perfect! Super aggro level 1 thinking at it's best. The booze helps too. Because after the games are over....they drink and play to "unwind". I've only been there 4 times during March Madness or NFL play off time, and each time it was just really easy.

We're talking micro level donk skill. You know those guys with the VP of 75+. It's just easy money. You're probably better than me (considering you're 200NL level and I'm just lowly micro player) and if I can pay for my flight and suite for 4 days at the MGM, you can probably make enough to buy a car! LOL.

The above posters are very correct.

You being a successful NL200 player, you will CRUSH 1/2 or 2/5 live AS LONG AS YOU REMEMBER, that you are playing against mostly level 1 players.

Play the same way you would play NL10 or 25 and you will win ridiculous money. As long as you dont out level yourself, your online play style will work well for you.

I dont know if you have ever played live or not, but often times the biggest problem that online players have when playing live is they become nervous being able to actually see their opponents and begin to either play badly or show obvious tells. Obviously try to avoid that.

my experience has been mostly see cheap flops, and fit or fold.

It usually kind of obvious when someone has something, the trick is just having something better than top pair to call them down with

Just remember typical opening raises in 1/2NL is about 5-8x the bb. So If you're used to 4x the bb online, treat that as about 8xbb live. Don't know why but that's what's it's like.

About the cbets, after you play for about an hour you'll see who are the loose passive preflop that's nitty postflop. As you already know don't cbet calling stations. It's just going to frustrate you when they spike some dumb little pair when you hit air and cbet.

screw cbetting imo, for the most part.

You can vs scared money players; it's not too hard to tell which are which though.

don't let anyone at the table know you're good enough to beat $1/$2 online

be sociable - it will surprise you how much you can learn about the players ' approach to the game & help you decide which way to go when the "right" play isn't obvious

example from $2/$5 in AC game - was having trouble getting a read on two guys & a little "focused" small talk during two smoke breaks revealed 1. villan one thought K-x suited was his good luck hand, had some $ and just played cash games to warmup for his chance to keep his never cashing in tournaments streak alive strategy - play a lot of hands against this guy 2. villan two - was a cpa ( i am too ), was a winning $2/$4 four table guy, played live on weekends & holidays for extra vacation $ strategy adjustment - avoid this guy - i'm not good enough to count his chips but i watched him carefully and saw the practical application of ABC poker advocated in the books

gl and have fun

What kind of roll do you guys keep for 1/2 live? I've heard it wont need to be as much as online recomendations because it's so soft.

Ugh, I had a 5BI roll. Surely not enough, but like, I'd run up 3 BIs in a session only to lose 2 in a huge cooler. The fact that I had a good estimated winrate meant that I could survive without a huge roll, but I think you want 10 min.

So i was playin 1/2 live yesterday in a reasonably loose passive game with a bit of isoing.

I was playin pretty tight people started to 'notice' verbally. I was pretty card dead tho.
People think theres any point in creatin a bit of image is good at these lil stakes vs fishh?
How do ppl like to do so, ive heard about a small bluff c/r n show, but i dont like it vs loose passivess

helplppp, its tough playin in MW limped pots, i barely ever play postflop too

Basically my question is how do we get around our tight image in loose passive games when we fold so often postflop and preflop?

Need to learn to tlak more at the table, but its still pretty obv

It's great to work on table image. These guys will notice you raise and rarely limp. They'll notice if you're tight too. Sometimes if i'm card dead I'll start acting like a maniac and then steal some pots at first. As soon as you lose a small pot to a check raise you're good. These guys will think you suck and try to out play. I've done this many times where i'll lose a bi to win 4 bi+
