How much time did you spend at each limit? How much time did you spend at each limit?

How much time or how many hands did you spend at each limit/stake before moving up? Which limit did you start at and what limit are you playing at right now? And if you feel like it, post your winrate. I'm curious on how fast different people moved up.

I'll start:
Starting limit: 2NL - ~16,500 hands...39bb/100
Current limit: 5NL - ~37,000 hands...2.25bb/100

i didnt have HEM or pt3 for nl2 or nl5 but i always just tried to move up with 20-25buyins for each level
went from nl10 -> nl25 after 18-20k hands and roll on 550$
went from nl25 -> nl50 after 23k for 14bb/100 hands and roll on 1.3k

currently on nl50 and plan to play over 30k hands here minimum i feel as though i moved up a bit quick through others

^^ crushing, gj

2nl i played maybe 20k hands
5nl i played 60k
10nl i just started

for 5nl though i was stuck there forever though as i didnt move up after 60k hands even though i was rolled and was stuck at 180-220$ bankroll for like 3weeks then went busto due to frustration in june, just came back to 5nl this month now im at 10nl

my winrate overall for 2/5nl is just over 1bb/100 tbh and ive played 100k+ hands at each

Seriously, I'm in about the exact situation as you (except I haven't bustoed yet ). I was stuck break-even/slight winner at 5NL forever for 30K hands and I'm around that bankroll area. I believe I've just been running bad but I'm shooting out pretty fast, about to move to 10NL after I crush 5NL a bit more. Rakeback at FT is helping too now

i think being results oriented is what will cause tilt and let you get frustrated and be/feel stuck.. i think that was my problem, seeing all the poker goals threads of people crushing 5nl in like 4days or so and everyone saying how fishy it is, and then seeing 5nl regs like blackrain making 10-20buy ins almost everyday tilted me cause i couldnt produce similar results... now ive lessened the tables i play and focusing on fixing leaks and stop thinking about results because thats only going to cause you to lose/play bad/make bad decisions in the long run

Bumping up the number tables actually helped me instead. I guess I wasn't focused enough with 4 tables running. And by running bad, I just meant the past couple of thousand. I played well, but I was just losing several AI races while ahead (as EV graphs show).

just deposit like 600
then you are automatically rolled for .10/.25
time spent: 1 minute clicking on deposit button

my goal is to never have to deposit $ onto a pokersite, atleast not to play at a specific limit, if i cant reach there by myself from free tournaments and 2nl upwards then i dont think it would be a good investment... plus ide never want my family to think im some degen gambler wasting away my $ on "gambling".. have 1 gambler in my family already dont want to repeat, this is a game for me & im comming from starcraft so its all about competition and being good at something

If you just flat-out deposit 600 and dive straight into 25NL, you're going to get crushed skill-wise unless you're awesome. Climbing stakes is a learning process and a challenge.

Played 20k hands at NL2 to get to $100
Then another 19k hands at NL5 winnings at 12bb/100
So far played 8k hands at NL10, winning at around 6bb/100

I dont remember exactly but I played like 20k hands at nl10, think i beat it for 12bb. Then about 24k hands at nl25 for 7bb/100. Then 8bb for nl50 in 20k hands, then failed shot at nl100, then 30k more hands of nl50 at 10bb, now trying nl100 again. What I learned from personal experience is that its not about the number of hands, its about when you feel ready to move up. When I moved up to nl100 1.5 months ago for the first time, I just wasnt ready. I also ran really really bad but wasnt ready. Now Im trying it again and also started off running bad lol but I feel a lot more ready and rolled for it. Id say take a shot when you have 40 buy ins for the next level. Dont do what I did and try with 25 buy ins cuz you have like no cushion if u run bad.

Hmm well ptr hasnt tracked nl50 at the site I play, they just started like 1-2 months ago. It has been only NL100 and up, so thats why. I am trying to put in more volume but ive had some distractions(like g/f coming here for 3 weeks and I barely played during that time). I should hit 30k hands this month if things go well. I do 4 table. Ive also played at another site under diff sn

yea from you say 30k hands this month i know it has to be like 4-6tabling, unless you mass multi table and just hardly play at all.. im having a hard time adjusting to 4tabling though, i play 10x better and my winrate is better but comming from 12-24tabling its i wouldnt say boring but just alil different.. are you ever considering mass multi tabling once your comfortable with a level that you want to stay at for a few months?

Not really. I want to play poker for a living because I enjoy it and every time Ive tried 6 tabling, I didnt enjoy it. So I think I will stay at 4 tables, maybe move up to 6 eventually, never 12-24 though lol.

very important imo. if you start at 2nl and always move up with 20BI's for the next level and get to 50nl quick (like with less than 30k hands at each level or so), chances are you have never experienced the real down side of variance yet and don't know a lot of standards yet to succeed at 50nl, 100nl not to mention higher

and really, don't bother talking about a winrate with 20k hands in your database because it doesn't really exist yet.

14.5k hands at 2nl for 18.36bb/100. Currently on 10k hands at 5nl for 14.75bb/100. Will probably ride out 5nl for another 10k hands or so then move up, barring anything terrible happening.
