I am taking shots at 5NL Zoom. Could be variance, could be confirmation bias, but I notice more players who check and underep their absolute nuts to the River.
I guess it works. Slowplaying the absolute nuts is part of the micro stakes handbook. I have stacked myself once when hitting my Straight below... but there was no way I was going to fold this hand against a shortstack.
Thing is, I have a lot of trouble dealing with slowplayers and trappers like that. It makes me see Monsters under the bed all the time, because I get afraid of value-owning myself. So how do you mentally deal with situations like those, and avoid losing confidence into your game? Are there ways you can avoid such trainwrecks and letting affect your game?
River: ($0.75) K (3 players)
Hero bets $0.32, BB folds, UTG raises to $2.34 and is all-in, Hero calls $2.02
Spoiler:
Results: $5.43 pot ($0.23 rake)
Final Board: T 4 4 J K
Hero showed A Q and lost (-$2.59 net)
BB mucked and lost (-$0.25 net)
UTG showed T T and won $5.20 ($2.61 net)
First one is a bit of a cooler but what do you think he is shoving all in with on the river on a paired board? I know it's annoying but I don't think there's anyway your straight is ever good there at 5NL.
Hand one, I would usually check(-call) the river, especially when it's multiway. I don't like randomly donking after check-calling the turn, because you just want to puke if anyone raises.
Hand 2, usually bet turn after villain doesn't bet flop, and you should do this with draws as well as made hands.
