I don't understand why even the non-US players would risk leaving money on there right now - with the massive exodus of cash from the sites to pay out to the US players, plus a good chunk of the non-US players that feel uneasy because of this incident, cashflow is going to be seriously restricted and bankruptcy is not out of the question for these companies, imo. If that happens it could be a long time before you see that cash again.

Couple this with the fines they are facing because of their behaviour... I dunno, I just don't see the reason to risk it when you can quickly re-deposit at a later date if all appears to be good.

what all money has been confiscated, is it like all funds or just US processors etc. the whole thing just sucks, online poker doesnt have the best rep around without this happening

Dont forget all the deposits that the companies have never processed. I alone have a $600 deposit with full tilt, and some others for sunday tournies totalling 500 or so dating back to September that have not been deducted from my account. My thoughts are they will probably have no way of getting this money due to the current charges they are facing. How many others regs and fishies are in the same boat?

Ken, the player's money 'on' stars is held in a trust account.

It doesn't belong to stars, and never did. It can't be seized and would not form part of any bankruptcy & liquidation should that ever happen. It's 100% safe to leave it there imo. Getting it off in a timely manner - that could be an issue in certain circumstances I guess, but I think that the money is safe.

I suppose there could be a different issue with the US players in getting their money back, as it could be said that the act of putting money online is participating in a breach of the UIGEA. However, even in this case, winnings would not be part of that, and I expect even the bastards at the US DOJ aren't intending to pursue confiscation against tens of thousands of individuals (?).

meh I understand players money is ring-fenced, and it's not the action that bothers me as far as my fund are concerned. it's stars going under and just the potential hassle it would take to get it back.

poker stars "should" be too big to go under, and they seem to be reacting ok imo so far.

edit: mind you, all the bad publicity, reduced guarantees and lost endorsements and advertising revenue sucks so hard for them atm. and by stars I mean ftp too, but i don;t play there much hence just referencing stars
