Ok, I am thinking of buying HEM in next few days. I know this is probably stupid but can you have the same database on 2 computers or is it just seperate on each?

So if i played on my main computer in day but then laptop in evening, these would be two different databases...?

It will be two seperate databases UNLESS you copy all your hands from your laptop to your desktop and vice versa. However, you will be able to use the key for both computers.

You can play on two different computers and share the same database, butt in order to do that youlle need a external hardrive.

For more information on how you can setup this you need to read the FAQ on Holdem Manager site, there is a link there who tell you exactly how you can use 1 database for 2 different computers.

An easier, cheaper yet less optimal way would be to simply copy the hand history files and from one computer to another after a set number (say every 5000).
