hey hey

i usually use pokertracker but after seein so many ss's of HEM and the fact that u can see 3bet frequency etc clearer on HEM i decided to give it a whirl.

now i have a question about the all in ev graph. My take on it is, this is where u should be in relation to the all ins you have taking into account the equity u have?

ie if u shove and its a $100 pot and ur 80% favourite your all in ev graph goes up $80? so if ur actual winnings is below this line ur runnin bad and above ur running hot?

take this session from last night:

am i to interpret this as i should be like $25 better off than i was had luck gone my way?

and on that note, does anyone have a link to a HEM guide because i cant seem to find one. i know in the stickies there is a pt one.

and the big pots i lost were hands like this vs a 76/35 idiot who kept doin random massive overbets and was spewing money so i figured my 10s were good. seems i was right but he sucked out. HEM says i was 82.9% equity and EV $ diff was -$15.86 so i take it that figure comes from 83% of the pot size?

Party Poker $10.00 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

BTN: $14.64
Hero (SB): $18.83
BB: $10.00
UTG: $10.02
MP: $7.17
CO: $22.28

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is SB with T T
UTG raises to $0.30, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.25, 1 fold

Flop: ($0.70) 8 8 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $4.00, Hero raises to $18.53, UTG calls $5.72 all in

that hand history isnt working, he showed K3 offsuit, and rivered a King

and this hand is pretty standand from what ive seen at NL10. there seems to be less ******s or people suckin out on NL5 (which im killing) than NL10 - maybe its just variance :P

I am pretty sure it goes up $100. Someone more experienced should correct me though if I'm wrong.. I'd be very surprised if it goes up $80.

The EV line measures your Expected Value frozen at the time you went All In and yes it accounts for the "luck" after you have no more control.

So if you are playing and get it all in on the flop and your an 80% favorite, and the pot is $100 (and assuming you and villain put it all in, no dead money from 3rd players) then yes your equity in the pot is $80 and $30 of that is "profit", so your EV line would move up $30. In actualty your green line will either move down $50 or up $50. Thus at the end of the hand you will either have been "lucky" and be $20 over EV, or "unlucky" and $80 below.

The EV line is a slightly better representation of your game then green line, because it factors out luck of the cards after you get all in, but it is by no means the end all of how you are running.

If you are good enough to post on this forum, and know waht that stuff even is, you should play higher, imo.

Unless you just dont have alot of money, then i would suggest get a job, then move up when you get paid.

i dont think how you run matters if you play those stakes, you should be good enough to win.

Why? I know what's EV, pot odds, implied odds, outs, fold equity and more but I'm still not quite a winning player like I want to be..

You gotta learn to apply those things, not just know them, before moving up.
