HELP! Need PStars $$$ From Old Account HELP! Need PStars $$$ From Old Account

Hi

I just discovered your site thru a Google search on 'Poker Stars password recovery'. I see a member on here, someone named Michael, is a Poker Stars Security member so I'm hoping he's sympathetic to my situation.

I'm an older dude, computers are new to me and I've only really began to learn how to start using them the last couple months, even though I've been on Poker Stars the last few years.

I'm not going to re-hash my situation. Instead, below I've pasted my email to Poker Stars Support detailing my dilemma and their reply. Michael, I know I'm a newbie but I would really appreciate your help on this one because I'm in a catch-22: Poker Stars closed my current account (toager) and is forcing me to use the one I can't access (TOAG) and the person who set up TOAG and it's associated email address are long unavailable.

Thanks in advance,
TOAG

Hi there

I had an account under the username 'TOAG' starting around 2006 playing for real money. I was new with computers and my friend set up my PStars account for me. That friend has since moved away. When I bought a new laptop a few months back, I re-installed PStars but could not log in, as the friend who moved away set my password for me. So I made a second account under the username 'toager'. At that time, I believe there were some real funds left in my 'TOAG' account, approximately $80.

On both accounts, I used my real information. My name is XXXXXXXX and my street address is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. I believe I even cashed out a couple times under my 'toag' account and recieved cheques from PStars.

My question is: since I can't remember the password for the 'TOAG' account, is there anyway you can transfer the remaining funds from that account to my new 'toager' account? I've listed my address above for account verification. If you have any other ways for me to confirm I own both accounts, please let me know.

Looking forward to your apply,

Hello TOAG,

Thank you for contacting PokerStars with your query.

Please note it is against the PokerStars Terms of Service for a player to
create more than one account at our site.

Upon investigation, it appears that the following accounts belong to the
same person:

********
'TOAG'
'toager'
********

We are closing all duplicate user IDs and leaving 'TOAG' open as the only
PokerStars account you are allowed to use. Any remaining real money and FPP
balance on your closed account will be transferred to the User ID remaining
active for you.

May I please also ask that you only contact us from 'XXXXXX@msn.com' from
now on.

Please refrain from creating further duplicate accounts or you may lose your
privilege to play at our site altogether. Be aware that the access to
multiple accounts at PokerStars may result in permanent closure of the
accounts involved, as it is a serious violation of our Terms of Service:

http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/room/tos

Thank you for your cooperation.

Kind regards,

Tomas B

edit,

i think pokerstars will help you get your password back or reset it if you can verify your identity?

I'm a buddy of TOAG's. I've followed along with him through this situation and suggested he first email Pokers Stars, and after their reply, join here and explain what he's looking for.

IamPro: Both accounts belong to my buddy. 'TOAG' was his original account from 2006, the one his long-gone friend set up. He didn't tell my buddy his PS account password or the password for the msn.com email address (the one PS listed in their reply) to recover the PS password. The PS log in screen had 'Remember My Password' ticked on from the beginning. When my buddy's desktop crashed a while back, he bought a laptop and downloaded PS again. He couldn't remember the password for TOAG, so he started 'toager'. There were still funds left in 'TOAG'. My buddy wanted to recover the 'TOAG' funds to the 'toager' account and emailed PS support explaining everything. That's where we stand now.

iiinycboi: No, it says they transferred the funds currently in the new account (toager) to the old account (TOAG), the one which my buddy can't remember the password for (or more accurately, never knew). My buddy wanted the opposite: the long-lost funds left in 'TOAG' to be transferred to the new account 'toager'. In my buddy's email, he provided them his personal information to verify both accounts and maybe trigger a reset, but all he got from PS was their reply you see above.

I'm dumbfounded on how to fix this. I'm in my mid-30's and have been on computers all my life, so I usually know how to fix the computer problems he runs into, given he's in his mid-50's and just started really grasping very basic computer actions. I'm the one who suggested he email PS and explain everything, even the multiple accounts. Now I feel like crap because he's shut out of both accounts and can't play poker on PS, even if he wanted to.

Lol

Both first posts in this thread by TOAG & TLB, close buddies... Email Stars they are the only ones that can help

so does PS allow him to sign up a new account with the bonus code? just curious
01-24-2010 , 04:23 AM
Can't he just "I forgot my password"?

Also, you might want to edit out your account names.

Yes Mentor, the first words of my first post were "I'm TOAG's buddy". Yes, I'm the one trying to help him through this. I helped him register for this site. He dictated while I typed his story. He doesn't know anything about forum message boards, so I told him I would follow along with any replies and let him know what is posted. So I came home, opened my own account and now I'm following along, clarifying the situation because he's too green to do it himself. Seeing Michael try and help other site members in older threads encouraged my buddy to register and post his story.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious though.

nyrvana: From the PS reply: "Please refrain from creating further duplicate accounts or you may lose your privilege to play at our site altogether." He doesn't want to risk creating a third account since they already shut down his second account 'toager'. He likes PS and doesn't want to be shut out of it any further than he already is. He just wants access to his original 'TOAG' account (the one he never knew the password for) to play some bloody poker. (Remember, 'TOAG' has the original funds abandoned when he didn't know the password, plus now all the 'toager' funds transferred to 'TOAG' as part of shutting down the 'toager' account)

ReidLockhart: His old friend set up the 'TOAG' PS account and didn't tell him the password. He also didn't tell him the password for the email address attached to the 'TOAG' PS account (the msn.com email address mentioned above). So when he clicks on 'I forgot my password', yes, they send a password reset to the msn.com email address. Since my buddy doesn't know the password to get into the email account, he can't get the PS account reset password email. As for the screen names, it's not really relevant at this point. One name is shut down. The other one is in stasis until the password is figured out.

No Problem!!

Like it has been mentioned, STARS SUPPORT is the only place that will get him the help he needs...

It might take a day/week/month but they will resolve the issue with proof of Identity
01-24-2010 , 05:22 AM
It looks like you are going to have to send them your ID and stuff, hopefully one of the the accounts is under your name and they'll give you the password. About the $$$ I don't know what will happen tho since it might be under the other guy's name.

I would have just made a new account if the other ones were not in your name

I will PM Michael for you and link him to this thread seeing as you have specifically named him here.

can't you also get the password reset on the e-mail account?
01-24-2010 , 04:47 PM
bumblebee99: We thought of that, but since long-lost-friend set up the MSN address, he would have also set up the home address for an MSN password reset. Unfortunately we have no idea what home address it is, and even if we did, we wouldn't know the password for that one either.

Rek: Thanks so much for doing that. Before I went to bed last night, I did the same thing as you just suggested so Michael will have two PM's about this. Thanks again for taking that initiative.
01-26-2010 , 06:46 AM
Rek: I've just read a thread on PM's and understand there is a threshold to meet before I can send them, which I why I can't find mine to see if PSMichaelJ has replied to my PM yet. I just found these forums and definitely like them, so I'll be sticking around for good now. I just don't know how often I have to post to be considered in good standing. I'm a member of a few other message boards but haven't run into this type of rule regarding PM's yet.

Has he replied to your PM with any information?

TLB - I didn't ask for or expect a reply from Michael. I simply linked him this thread. He may perhaps be away for a little while and hasn't yet read it. Sorry I can't help any more than that.
01-26-2010 , 06:17 PM
My bad Rek, apologies for making that assumption and thank you for clarifying that. You've been a great help already by taking the initiative and forwarding this thread to him. Both TOAG and I really appreciate it - contacting Michael clearly would be difficult for either of us for aforementioned reasons.

We'll wait patiently and hope for the best. Thanks again.

Hi all,

I was away for the weekend (here in Australia, it was Australia Day, and I had a 4-day weekend) but am now back and happy to help recover the account.

In the future, you'll typically get faster replies if you email support@pokerstars.com.

Sincerely,

Michael J

Hey Michael, is that the day where families come together to recall bygone days and tell the little ones what jail good old great grandpa came from?
