I want to put in a first time deposit at Carbon Poker.

I'm thinking $100.

I've been playing poker since 2005 off and on.

I've matured back into 2007 of beating $5, $10, & $20 SIT N GO's on a regular basis.

Only the $20's were 9 seat tables.

I tried the $50 SIT N GO's on occasion & did well here & there.

I realize that once we get up in the $50 + S N GO buy ins that the skill levels are very good & the competition is great.

I want to be at this place steady and keep rising.

So with this much expereience & results from the past I'm thinking of getting into the $5 Sit N GO's with this $100. I see about the 40-50 X rule but can we possibly bend that in specific situations?

I play solid, focus on each player, know how to trap, and take in the many variances. I've had to learn alot by simple trial & error, keep on playing, & take in the lessons.

I have built my confidence back up to my past high standard, am motivated, & want to get bank roll management under good order as my knowledge understands it.

One thing to add that kind of drew me away was a site I was playing on gave me a hard time cashing out $1,000 + & I decided to give up on the withdrawel request to eventually walk away from poker altogether at that time.

Your thoughts, insight, and advice are much welcomed.

I love the game of poker in general, while making all the right decisions, and want to push through all the fear of moving out & upwards into the unknown.

I wouldnt in honesty - be a BRM nit and you wont ever have to redeposit!

The games from '07 and now have changed a sh*t load. All though still beatable, they are significantly harder these days.

As a result of lower win rates, varience increases. A 20BI swing as SnGs are not exactly rare - play on a super safe BR (I say 100BI, but 40BI is fine)

Interesting GutshotDan92, will be awaiting other responses.

So to recap your saying with $100 I'm the safest at $1 SIT N GO's from your pespective while $2 SIT N GO's with this amount would be fine?

yes i agree with GSD, i only started playing recently, from what ive heard from old friends is that most poker formats have become a lot tougher.
I started out on SNGs and used to have like 30BI's swings, busted my account twice

Err, at such small stakes, you can easily manage the $2 games. The quality will be pretty poor (amazing by '07 standards however- if memory serves, carbon is a fairly tough site as it has a bunch of US players on it - only the grinders made the effort to play on another site whilst the recreational players didnt - Still, a 40BI BRM stratergy will be enough).

But, im a BRM nit... All though im never going to be super aggro with my roll, others may be able too (I cant afford to loose it by being silly - and im far from a complete player). So it is up to you.

I just woudnt advise it... IMO, I think you should give the $2 games a go for a few weeks and see how it compares from the past... Then make the move to $5 if you feel like you can beat these stakes (However, I would advise depositing more so you have at least 40BI in your roll)

With your past exeperiance at the $50 games, i would hope to see you as a winning player... but having 20BI to test the water aint great imo.

GL

EDIT: Oh, and you most certainly dont want to develop some poor BRM tendancies. If you go on a huge heater when you first sit down and make the move up to, say the $20 games on a 20BI (you will find yourself wanting to move up underolled as the games seem super easy) roll... when things go against you, you will go busto (that would be $300 down the drain in proffits... and that sucks when you could have prevented loosing any where near that).

It also depends on how fixated you are on not making an additional deposit if needed.
If you are confident you can beat $5 games, go for it but be ready to deposit more if you hit a downswing at the outset.

On the other hand, if your aim is to climb stakes with this bankroll you will need to come to grip with BRM eventually anyways, so you can as well get used to the discipline early.

Gotcha. Yes it has gotten a bit harder in the games I must say.

Yeah I have done enough swing down in rolling away too much to where I learned some pain in that.

I'm hearing you out.

I had gotten to the point where a really tough play or experience in a hand or two didn't have the impact it had in the past. I could block it out, no biggie. My perspective had changed, realizing how much more I had to grow, & I was acceptable of the fact that when I play so error free that I'm bound to see some crazy things happen regardless.

Yep you never know how things will do until the situation calls.

Staying at a level for the right amount of time is our challenge then.

I may hover with this 40 X buy in with the bank roll & go from there.

Now I need to sell off some baseball cards to get my deposit in the system.
