no problem, i think a lot of people make this mistake the first time playing omaha.

1) fold preflop
2) If you are brand new to plo.. you probably shouldn't be playing 250 bb's deep at .02-.05... hop down to .01-.02 and play 100bb's deep until you know at least a few basics.

There's no other game in which fortunes can change so much from hand to hand.
A brilliant player can get a strong hand cracked, go on tilt...
and lose his mind along with every single chip in front of him.
This is why the World Series of Poker is decided over a No-Limit Hold 'Em table.

Some people, pros even, won't play No-Limit.
They can't handle the swings.
But there are others, like Doyle Brunson,
who consider No-Limit the only pure game left.

Get any basic PLO book, and read it.

PLO is completely different from HE,

also start off at 2PLO until you get a feel for the game.

Some super basic strategies to Omaha is that you want to have the nuts/near nuts and be drawing to the nuts/near nuts.

When you draw, you want to be drawing with 8+ outs to win and have the appropriate pot odds of course.

And get used to folding when you miss or the board improves and busts your hand, i.e. you have a straight and the river pairs the board or puts a flush out there.

Lastly, at a minimum 3 out of your 4 cards need to play together and you want to have as many possible hands (flush and straight draws) as possible, ESPECIALLY NUT FLUSH DRAWS.

AJK2 is a decent playable hand
A6K2 is a crap hand

KK25 is a marginal hand, barely playable
KKJT is a decent hand

again, its all about the cards playing together. It makes a HUGE difference.

If you play awful, variance is the least of your concerns. Players who get it in good and lose worry about the variance aspect
