Flopped 2 pair after PF Raise WTF! Flopped 2 pair after PF Raise WTF!

I know everyone says don't be results oriented. But seriously, we play poker to win. I can't get ahead because I keep losing stacks like this. Am I doing something wrong or just having a bad run. This has been going on for at least 10,000 hands. Every time I post I'm told I'm playing fine, so let's try again. Thanks!

you played it fine, 10k hands is nothing, everybody runs bad from time to time, move on etc.

What do you want us to do? You clearly know you played it fine so why isn't this just a bad beat/whine post?

It's a bad beat, it happens.

If it makes you feel better, I ran my flush into quad aces today lol.

Seriously, I've only been playing for 2 years, so i still question if I'm doing things right. I feel like I play right, but hands like this are chewing on my roll all the time, so I have to question them. I feel good that all my losing hands are "normal" but I'm sick of waiting for the variance to even out. I guess when the good run comes I'll be loving it!

Questioning your hands are fine and a good way to improve, but these types of hands aren't the reason you can't get your roll to grow. The bad beats and coolers will even out and what you need to look at to improve will be all the other hands. Those are the hands the big winners play better than the break even aspiring poker players.

If I were to give you some advice on how to improve, thus is what you should do:

find a hand with a medium-sized pot in which you were unsure about the river/turn. Post that hand in the appropiate forum and ask your question.

The thing is that often all the hands that gets posted are hands with a big pot and a marginal situation. People tend to postthese because they think these are the important hands. They really aren't. That specific situation with that river raise from that opponent is so rare that it doesn't matter much how to play it because you wont be in that situation again. However, everybody at 10 NL will have a bunch of spots where they are lost on the turn with say middle pair or something. learning how to play these situation will be much better because you will be in that situation all the time. If you do that and post some hands/situation and understand the advice given you'll improve way faster than if you look at these bad beats/cooler types of hands, even if some of them could have been avoided.

I'm going through a spell like this live. Variance happens. It only takes a few key hands going the wrong way in a short period of time to make it seem like you can't win or makes you question your play.

Just in the last week I've had players call off 1/4 of their stacks PF with 44 and 55 against my AA, and flop sets. What can you do? They paid too much and got lucky. I've flopped Broadway only to have villain chase down a boat on the river. Another villain was all-in on the turn with a FD against my top two. He gets there on the river. I'm all-in on the flop with the OESFD and 2 overs. Villain stacks off with TPWK and I miss.

The point is, I've been here before and know that it will turn around eventually. It's just something you have to go through. Nobody ever questions their play when things are going their way. We think everything is right in the world when variance is going in our favor, but it's just the flip side of the same thing.
