Update : Truck is in bad shape it seems I somehow broke a major suspension component , and thats what caused my brake line to break. Lucky for my truck , I am a very competent welder / fabricator as well as a professional mechanic

Oh , and Mrs.Leroy popped into the garage and correctly said " Looks like you need new brake pads too imo "

Truxican is back up and on teh road . Yes , Truxican is her name , and yes she is for sure a female . Only a woman could cause so much pain iyam . It took some welding , 3 brake lines , a caliper , and a set of brake pads , but she is back up.

peeps, I got a CTH type question.

So my work provides me with a laptop. I will be doing a few weeks up to a few months of travel. I have admin rights on the laptop. When I go back to my home office the lappy will synch up, do any system updates that my IS department pushes to the machine that the cant do until I connect to the wired lan. Our IS department aren't totally anal about what we use the machines for (I can pretty much install anything work related and do reasonable things like watch youtube vids, watch DVDs etc ....I have never fired up this forum on it though because I'm pretty sure they do log internet traffic WHEN we are on the office LAN but Ive never heard of anyone being busted or told off for doing dodgy stuff) but at the same time my employer has the usual policies in place about 'appropriate use' yada yada and they are corporate so if there is the lingering potential that someone will do something that will make them clamp down the rest of us.

so issue is that whilst I am away the only way I'll use the laptop online is via my phone as a portable hotspot. I know where I am going the internet is reliable - ive previously played pokerstarsmobile without any issues whilst there so this time I am thinking that I might want to install pokerstars and HEM this time. I would be smart enough to be able to uninstall them prior to returning to my office but I'm not an expert in doing stuff like cleaning the registry etc so I wouldnt do much more if its in the too hard basket.

Basically I would rather avoid uncomfortable questions if I go back to the office and get a call from IS asking what I was using the machine for. I'm pretty sure it would be a slap on the wrist type thing...after all, they be sending me to a remote site with **** all for me to do when I'm not working and my manager would be accomodating in that respect afaik.

So given the above, do I have much of a reason to be concerned that IS will see that I installed gambling software whilst 'off the grid' and deleted it before I went back? in before "it depends"...

6 days in bed with flu Now i got the most horrific cough that i cant shake so im off to get drunk and hopefully i can get some sleep then.

trust me, that is a temporary solution at best. playing sport is also something that wont work. why do I know this, this year I played a sporting grandfinal with a bad cold, played awesome anyway and we won, partied hard after...but crashed and burned badly quite early in the evening and ended up being off work sick for the next two work days





AND IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT :

nope. Its relatively new (got reformatted/reimaged a few months ago) and I could come up with a valid reason to kick it back into the laptop pool, get IS to reimage it and get another but thats mute because I can't afford or justify losing what I have installed on it.

Maybe ask someone in your IT dept?

possible but not feasible as they be in another state and do support remotely via remote desktop, hence I don't know any of them well enough to ask.
