Try 16NL Regular tables 6 max.

Seem to be plenty of fish there.

No Money Heads Up Everyone's Solid

OP, work hard and study the game, and when you reckon you've mastered it, start working even harder, because the game will have moved on. It's not meant to be easy, if it was then everyone would be crushing it. There is still space for good players, you just have to displace players who are already occupying that space. GL!

Such thoughts come when you play at the limit that you are not able to beat.
So may be there is a sense to start from NL5 - NL10 to build confidence.

Poker hasn't been "solved", so you can basically still beat anyone if you play good enough. You just gotta be better than the other regs.

Micros are definitely beatable.

Just because someone plays often and could be considered a reg, doesn't mean they are playing good, or even reasonably good. You just might not beat them by playing the same way you could beat a 40/10 whales.

I was actually serious.

Had someone open fold and gift me a 40bb pot the other day, ragged flop, he had to have hit something you would think, nah, he was clearly too embarrassed to showdown or knew that my 3rd pair beat him. He was truly an awful player, I liked him, a lot.

Also, new players join the game all the time. (People who turned 18 for example)
So there will always be players you can beat i guess.

Poker is beatable at any limits providing you're better than the competition. The harder and smarter you work the better you become and you will be able to beat a greater proportion of the player pool.

To a certain extent it's true.
Unless you live in a poor country, online poker is extremely unlikely to provide you a decent standard of living if you're just starting out. You can still play for fun and pocket money though.

It can be but it's incredibly hard to become a winner at stakes which will support a living in the UK in 2014.

Not exactly. I mean it's really hard to grind your way out of the micros to the point where you can earn a living wage. Edges are so small these days that thousands of people are stuck in the ghetto of 10NL/25NL, because they can't win at a high enough rate to be able to move up to more 'meaningful' stakes.

I live near Scarborough mate, pie, chips, peas and gravy for 2.50. Trust me, it's very tough to earn enough at poker to live even in cheap areas of the UK.

It is very true, many of the people who make a living from playing poker are there because they put in the work off of the tables too. Playing casually is great, and its a great way to improve but you are never going to develop significant edges by just playing alone in the world of online poker.

Why do you think people get stuck at these stakes, as opposed to say getting stuck at 100nl/200nl?

Higher stakes are more predatory. Recreational regs might beat 25NL but they don't have the studying time to beat 200 without buying a script which probably won't be worth it for the volume non-pros play. People do get stuck at 200NL but it's a lot of work to get there.

People get stuck at 100NL too, it's just there's a lot more people stuck at lower levels. At least if you win at 3bb per hour at 100NL, that's $3/hr. You can probably live on that in Belarus.
