Agreed, with 20 BBs you can wait for AA.

Also depends on the action of the stacks that pose a threat to us. If we have 40k and a short stack shoves with about 10-15, with KK I'm insta calling. With a more quiet midstack shoving after the shortstack I'm probably folding here, let them battle it out, while we wait for another spot to steal chips//knock a shorter stack out. To see either an AK or AA in this situation wouldn't be worth it. Hands like shorstacks range of probably any mid pair or KQ,KJ,AJ,AQ, iare only getting called by a better A, or AA even if you're holding KK, you're only either going to get beat by an ace //set and it will probably force you into another tough decision later... then again, tight midstacks could have KK as well.. or QQ.

There have been a few forums on this....never folding. Stack sizes and players involved you may run into aq but I doubt aa.

Only in a Sat would I think about folding KK if I had a ticket secured and a massive stack.

If you fold KK pre, you're doing it wrong.

Fold for sure, all that action multi-way and risking your tournament on it... Good fold man

Also you're already at the final table each place is $$$

folding KK pre is usually very wrong, but I guess an extreme set of circumstances can make it excusable but not palatable! I can not remember ever doing it ( but I have also been crushed by AA a few times, but so what?).

This is 100% absurd, since it would also apply to AA. Folding here is terrible.

Except for the specific satellite bubble situation, if I even fold KK preflop in a tournament, take me out and shoot me.

There are definitely times to fold KK preflop, regardless of what some macho types tell you.

This isn't one of them.

Moving up 2 spots for "free" isn't the point. The point is EV, and the huge chip stack you'll have, which greatly increases your chances of coming in first, with its exponentially huge payout. In fact, this spot is almost exactly what you're looking for. To make tournaments worthwhile, with the payouts skewed so heavily towards the top few spots, you have to have a go here. Unless you are not playing for pure EV, in which case you can make a case for folding (higher percentage chance of "good" payout versus lower percentage chance of "huge" payout, more tournament playing experience at the final table, etc.)

This is patently false, especially when all-in. You misunderstand some poker basics.

If that's the case, then I'd fold this and let the others knock each other out. If it's all just bread and butter, then I'd put the chips in with my premium hand - betting to take a significant chip lead and win the tournament.

Remember at this stage of a tourney when the big stack shoves and a 20bb stack calls, it's still unlikely either of them has AA and most of the time your KK is crushing both of them.
^-- The best short term result is folding, the best long term result is calling in these spots. Poker is about the long term results.
