If this is a negative number in hold'em manager, does that mean I am under or over my EV? I say this because regular EV says I am pretty much even, but I feel that I've been running bad.

Cheers.

$ (EV adjusted) is the amount of money you were "supposed" to win when considering your all in hands. This is just one part of your "poker luck" in the short term.

I know that....but one of my figures is positive, the other is negative. This is my last 5k hands and feel like I'm running bad.

What does this mean?

I don't have holdem manager but I'll take a stab at this.

$ EV difference is the amount you are above/below expectation. So you won $49.51 more than your EV share. $EV adjusted is the amount you would have won if all your hands had played out perfectly according to the odds, so you're total EV is -$183.15.

I'm not sure if HEM calculates these for hands that went to showdown, or just AI hands. And you can't tell if you are playing/running good or bad by looking at your EV, you can only see your EV.

I always thought it was like this:

$EV adjusted: -180
$EV Difference: : 50

U should have lost 180, but instead u lost 230. This seems right? So you run bad, plus getting coolered/playing bad/tilting.

And airmanspecial is absolutely correct. I have run good EV wise, but getting a bunch of coolers and vice versa.
When both these factors combine, it's a perfect storm of course.

HEM only calculates all in hands btw and only when the money goes in. What I mean is, imagine a situation where you put 99$ in as a favorite and the last 1$ as a dog, for HEM ev calc's you have put all your money in as a dog.

In your example you have -$180 with a +$50 difference. So you should have lost $180 but have only lost $130 because you are $50 ahead.

But you can't determine how you are playing just by looking at your EV totals to do this you have to review your hands and analyse your play yourself.

That seems a weird way to do things, would be better if it calculated EV street by steet.

Crazy Diamond, this seems exactly right as I am down about $228. The EV difference I know means I am $50 less than what I should be. It works opposite, as in, if it is a postive number (50) then I am actually $50 below, not $50 up. The adjusted EV confused me because it doesn't work in opposites. -180 actually means -$180.

Also, in terms of my play, I've been calling a little bit too much where I should be betting, but I havn't tilted and there are lots of spots where I can same money or extract value because I am a better player than the avaerage.

Cheers

Wow HEM EV calc is just a bit weird then lol. I'd still recommend not worrying about your EV at all. Taking time to review your hands properly by figuring out a range and finding your EV, considering different ways you could have played the hand, what you would have done if scare cards came is much more useful.

Yeah that's for sure. It's just that I took a shot at 25NL with about 18BI and got it up to 27BI in not too long. I had a perfect plan to redoposit at another site and be rolled for 50NL with the bonus. Then, I log in for a normal session and run like hell. I quit early and wait until I'm feeling better. I log on and have another session from hell. Repeat. Today, while 9 tabling, I realised I wasn't auto-reloading and now I'll probably just grind 10NL for a little while to make sure I'm not forgetting fundamentals. It sucks that in the space of 4 days you go from about to play 50NL to dropping down to 10NL.

Anyway, I've found some things I'm probably not doing quite right. You learn more from downswings than you do from upswings, so, w/e. I'll keep playing.
