Ive started to try and Build a BR from these. Only started yesterday and some today. So far played 22 tournaments at $5.20 for a profit of $1.20.
Ive tried to play 8 or so at a time but find it too much at the moment, mainly because my screen is too small and i have missed some information or someones cards have been hidden behind the HUD. SO ive decided to go with 4 at a time for now.

Im currently cashing just ove 50% of the time and have set a target of playing 1000 of these hoping in the end to hit a ROI of about 60% giving me a nice $800 BR.

Some questions - is 60% ROI a realistic target to reach
Early on is it worth limping with a few SC, Medium small Pairs and Axs to see if i flop a big hand or not.
Later when theres still 7-8 players left but the blinds are high and the ante has kicked in how do you go about playing medium pairs. Is it worth folding them if a tight player but who is short stacked shoves before it gets to you. (my reason for asking is that i have called a few been infront and lose), But what im now thinking is that im not playing a STT where top 3 get paid?

ANy other recomendationson on to play these are welcome

No it's not, but I think you mean 60% ITM which is attainable over a large sample but hard, even at the lower stakes. It seems like you don't have much experience in these so for now I don't think you will be able to maintain 60% ITM. However, you can always work on your game.

I would recommend you to read all of the DoN topics on 2+2, get SNG Wizard and read Sit 'n Go Strategy by Collin Moshman. Although this book is primarily for regular Sit 'n Go's, the information you'll find is also useful for DoN's.

The main strategy is to play really tight in the beginning (personally I don't play PP's and definitely no suited connectors, but you can limp behind in late position when there are lots of limpers in front of you). When the antes kick in you start to loosen up by stealing blinds from the cut-off, button and in the small blind when it's blind vs blind. The key to these things is to maintain your fold equity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fold_equity) and push at the right times. Remember, raising all-in yourself is always better than calling.

Thanks for that. Yes i meant ITM.
So for those people who do play over a large sample what sort of % ITM to they obtain to make it profitable to play these?

% ITM needs to be bigger than (buy-in+rake/2*buy-in) to be profitable.

So $5 DON, $,50 rake you need (5,50/10) = 55% ITM

1$ DON, $,20 rake you need (1,20/2)= 60% ITM

Tbh, there's a ton of terribad DoN players in the lower stakes especially that play it like a normal SnG. I think 60%+ should be sustainable, but I don't have a big sample to back this up.

Imo the basic goal of a don is to find a place to increase your chips a couple of times and just finish ITM. If you have 3x starting stack, you need to start folding everything except maybe AA. There's no incentive to knock someone out. If play is on the bubble and you're like 4th but with a seemingly low stack, don't get too crazy about premiums, because often there will still be people knocked out in front of you. If you are 6th/7th and the blinds go up and ante's kick in, proceed to shove almost ATC on BTN and possibly SB/CO if it's folded to you.

Anyway, that's my basic take on DoN's. If you finish in 1st place, you've taken too much risk.

The rake at $5 is .20 and at $1 is .10 (for turbos)

Well then you only need 52% for the $5's and 55% for the $1's.

Used to be raked more when I used to play them IIRC

Sit 'n Go is all about volume. I'm not certain about the DoN ROI, but a good player could probably have a ROI of about 10-15% at the 5.20 level (that's about 57-60% ITM).

They aren't as easy as most people think, at least not anymore. At Pokerstars there are lots of decent regs and most donkey's seem to know to play tight.
