lets say you are going to raise it 3x the bb preflop. you want to mix up your play so instead of raising 3x you raise 5x the bb. what would a optimal % be to swap your raising plays? how would you work that out? and no its not 3.5% or 3fiddy trolls.

You shouldn't be "mixing it up" with your preflop raise size. It splits up your range, which is hard to execute in a balanced way and attentive players will take note of what sizes mean what. It also makes it harder for you to play and realize where you are in your range pre and post flop

are attentive players going to realize that we are raising 5xBB 80% of the time with 66 on the button and 20% of the time raising it to 3x the BB on the button with 66?

what the heck is balanced?

I don't think opponents are going to work out whether we have 66 anyways in a live environment. we are going to get it dealt every 221 hands on average which playing 30 hands a hour we will get 66 every 7 odd hours on average.

youre asking, if (example) a 3bb raise size allows you to open with a 20% pfr, what kind of range youre able to open with a 5bb size?

The 3x and 5x openings both require different ranges, and if you're going to "mix it up" for no reason whatsoever you're going to be folding profitable 3x hands because you want to 5x this hand and so you let it go.

Keep your opening sizes fixed (you can/should vary by position) and forget about this one.
