I am looking to get into plo. Sure i have trouble 2nd nuts like everyone else but thats not what i wanna talk about tonight.

What I was interested was those people who play 12+ tables of plo 6 max if their bad swings last a shorter amount of time. I'm assuming playing 1k hands an hour if you have an edge that if you played 4-5 hours a day that you should rarely run into a losing day. Or atleast have less losing days than someone 4 tabling.

Basically how are the swings when playing 12+ tables compared to someone who plays 4.

Well because you're playing more tables your winrate should go down which would actually increase your variance, but yeah I guess your swings would be shorter in terms of time elapsed because of the increased volume.

But isnt 12 tabling plo a lot better than 4 tabling? Cash wise im sure it is but also pain in the ass wise?


Like i bet if i 4 tabled i would have losing days like 5 days a week. If i 12 tabled i would prob only have like 3 losing days.

The number of tables you play isn't really the issue.

It's how well you play them that matters.

If you can play 12 as well as you can play 4, then certainly you're going to go through the same swings (up and down) either way, but playing 12 means those swings will pass quicker on the clock.

Fact is, you'd be a very special person if you could play 12 as well as 4.

Your winrate is bound to suffer when you play 12.

So your downswings will be deeper, but your upswings won't be correspondingly higher.

Think about it: if playing 12 was the answer, wouldn't playing 24 be even better?

You need to find the number of tables which gives you the best $ win per hour. That's not necessarily the maximum number of tables you can fit on your screen.

You also need the bankroll (and, not a minor point, the mental stability) to cope with the depth and duration of the swings inherent in that number of tables.

Mass tabling any game does not decrease variance.
