Showdown question:

At showdown, you are called, you declare 2 pair then you show your hand. Other hand shows three of a kind. You are a fish and didn't see you had a flush, but another player (or you) notices.

Do the cards speak or does your declaration stand?

Just turn your cards face up, the dealer will know. In this case, cards speak. Can you imagine someone claiming they have royal flush, then gets the other ppl to muck, then shows a pair? h3h3h3

I think should be moved to B&M but I will say that you need to show 2 cards to win if at showdown 2 pair mucks because he thinks he is beat then it is 3 of a kind who wins. If 2 pair declares 2 pair and 3 of a kind declares 3 of a kind but moments later 2 pair says he has a flush the best way to do it is a chop IMO.

BTW, 2 pair DOES lose to 3 of a kind...there really isn't much THINKING to be done...

Cards always speak, and unseen flush wins...there is no "OH I misdeclared my hand, so now we chop the pot" rule.

i know 2 pr beats 3 of a kind genius. the point i was making was that if he says he has 2 pr, 3 of a kind beats it and 3 of a kind wins, but if he says 2 pair and then says oh wait i have a flush then if i was 3 of a kind i would be asking for a chop instead of shipping him the whole pot because he is an idiot. Again I am assuming this is a home game and not a casino environment in which case you would just call the floor.

Then I made a joke based on my own situations in poorly run home games where this happened. I saw this happen in a $300+ pot years ago because of someone missing a straight he made, and the house declaring it a chop...

On a side note: you shouldn't believe any declarations other people make(check their cards). Not only could they be trying to make you muck a better hand, they could also have read their cards wrong and thing they have a straight or a flush or a set etc. Just flip 'm open at showdown and let the dealer shove you(or villain) the pot. Check to see if the dealer read it correctly.

LOL at calling a floor to tell you his flush beats your 3 of a kind. You'd be VERY lucky to get anything out of misdeclaration from the player himself, I for one would never give you anything. Then again, I wouldn't declare in the first place.

Cards speak. When you show your hand you can declare anything from a royal flush to 7-high. It doesn't matter, all that matters is what you actually have and everybody at the table is responsible for making sure a tabled hand is read correctly.
