Hey everyone!

I've lurked here on 2+2 for a bit, and I really love the forum. I have learned so much from reading the posts here, that I decided to make an account and join the community.

Anyways, I've been having trouble reviewing this hand; I was hoping to get some help analyzing it so I can adjust my play for next time. The aforementioned hand is posted below.

NL Holdem 0.1(BB)
HJ ($19.12) [VPIP: 4.9% | PFR: 1.2% | AGG: 30% | Hands: 82]
CO ($11.37) [VPIP: 32.7% | PFR: 3.6% | AGG: 29% | Hands: 112]
BTN ($10.30) [VPIP: 8% | PFR: 8% | AGG: 25% | Hands: 26]
SB ($10.90) [VPIP: 30.4% | PFR: 21.4% | AGG: 28.9% | Hands: 112]
HERO ($25.78) [VPIP: 33.9% | PFR: 22.6% | AGG: 53.3% | Hands: 126]
UTG ($1.54) [VPIP: 69.2% | PFR: 30.8% | AGG: 10.5% | Flop Agg: 28.6% | Turn Agg: 0% | River Agg: 0% | 3Bet: 28.6% | 4Bet: 0% | Hands: 13]
EP ($10) [VPIP: 17.9% | PFR: 14.3% | AGG: 20% | Flop Agg: 50% | Turn Agg: 50% | River Agg: 0% | 3Bet: 0% | 4Bet: 0% | Cold Call: 12.5% | Hands: 29]
MP1 ($12.14) [VPIP: 17.2% | PFR: 16.1% | AGG: 40% | Hands: 89]
MP2 ($19.55) [VPIP: 14.6% | PFR: 12.5% | AGG: 33.3% | Hands: 48]

Dealt to Hero: 7 7

UTG Raises To $1.54 (allin), EP Calls $1.54, MP1 Folds, MP2 Folds, HJ Folds, CO Folds, BTN Folds, SB Folds, HERO Raises To $3.90, EP Raises To $10 (allin), HERO Folds

Flop ($15.49): A A 4

Turn ($15.49): A A 4 Q

River ($15.49): A A 4 Q J

Players agreed to run it 2 times.

Flop #2($15.49): 7 2 7

Turn #2($15.49): 7 2 7 J

River #2($15.49): 7 2 7 J J

Spoiler:

UTG shows: 9 T
EP shows: K A

EP wins: $8.76

As you can see, if I decided to call the all in, I would have ended up splitting the pot running it twice, or losing to trips if we ran it once. I know in poker it's not a good idea to focus on the results only, so I'm trying to figure out if I played it right. How would you have played it?

Thanks in advance, looking forward to your responses.

Didn't look at the spoiler, since results are irrelevant.

Your only mistake is the 3! with a middle pair. Especially so because it's too small to fold out EP and isolate. Even so, no reason to isolate just to flip if UTG only has 2 overs. Perfect spot to flat an see a flop. Plus you make your decision really hard when EP shoves and offers you 2.5:1 on the call.

Here's the reality.

If both have AKo, you're a 3:2 favorite
Against AKo and AQo, you're an 11:9 dog
Against AKo and 88-AA you're a 4:1 dog

The first two are the best case scenarios. One of them has an overpair often enough to make folding to the shove correct.

In short, the 3! was bad, the fold to the shove was correct.

This is a slam dunk preflop fold. We're simply dominated too much here, and it's not a good situation to setmine given the 15x open and call.

If this was btn jam sb call, I could see us having an interesting spot in the bb. But you really have to respect the UTG1 call here, and 77 is too weak to be getting in.

Hey, thanks for the response.

To be clear, you are saying this was a bad 3bet, and even if it was a good 3bet spot, the bet sizing would need to be larger to have any chance of isolating?
