because after you put in your first blind you have less than what you may want in front of you. plus you want to have chips to bust someone else who has increased. many other reasons.

I play deep because I want to keep all the fish covered. Those games tend to be very juicy too. I started playing on the deepstack with antes tables and people give money away there.

This is what i figured. So you prob believe you're the best or 1 of the best players on the table?

I'd guess they buy in deep because they find it more profitable. Plus, it's more fun imho. Being deep enough to 3-bet, 4-bet, 5-bet and not be totally committed adds several extra layers of complexity to the game. Speculative hands gain value (especially against people that don't realize they need to play differently 200+bb deep). TPTK-type hands lose some value. You get better odds to setmine in 3-bet pots.

So, there's tons of reasons to buy in deep. I'd say it's more profitable. Actually, HEM confirms my winrate is pretty good 150bb-200bb deep, but not so great 300bb deep. If that trend continues, then it looks like I either need to shore up my super-deep game, or start rat-holing once I go over 300bb.

I don't mean to sound overly flippant, but if you don't suspect you're one of the best players on a table, it's time to head out to the lobby to find a new table. Remember, if the 9th best poker player in the world insists on sitting with the 8 best, it's not a question of if he'll go busto, but when.
