I guess I didn't really think I was that much of a beginner... but it seems like there's some basic spots that I don't feel all that comfortable with. So, what do you all usually do in these 2 common spots:

1. NLH, everyone around 50-100bb deep. Average player opens with the standard raise from middle position. It's folded to you on the button w/ a pair of 9's. What's the play?

2. Same situation as example 1. You make the call from the button. SB folds, BB calls. Some raggedy flop comes out (maybe t, 4, 3 rainbow). BB checks, and the initial raiser leads out with the c-bet. Action to you with the 9s. What's the play?

These come up several times a session, but I've never felt right about any action...in both a fold seems weak, a raise overly aggressive, and a call doesn't get you any new information. Thanks.

Call both times imo, unless the pfr is super nitty then you can probably just fold the nines unimproved on the flop.

3betting 99 can get really really bad. You don't want to get blown off your pair and set potential by being 4bet and people generally don't continue with worse when you 3bet.

Yeah i fink the call pre flop and post flop are ok then re-evaluate on the turn imo.. try to put mp raisers on hand ranges and this will help you to.
