Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
Started playing in 1998 live and was full time grinding 2004-2007 online, the game got better, I quit cold turkey. Thought about getting back in the game in 2010 and was still paying attention to poker news, but was advised the online games had gotten much harder. Have played maybe 10 live sessions in last 13 years, zero online, did not keep up with poker news. Was not overly encumbered with stability, mental health, or bankroll, but things are looking much better lately, so here we are. I'm 52.
Spent past month lurking to and fro. So much news! I should be downloading these GTO solver thingies but nooooo, I have to spend hours on NVG, scandal, gossip, and who is left standing in the poker world since I last checked in. It's been fun. Very much enjoying the live stream big money games.
I want to get back in the game. I am in Canada with a 12 table card room a 5 minute drive away. Vastly prefer online. So how do I go about doing this the smart way? I'll try to answer it myself:
-find best rakeback/bonus sites to sign up for sites
-find GTO/HUD/Database apps & download em
-get reps in at microlimits
-swallow pride, get coaching
-read books watch vids to figure out wtf others are thinking, learn stuff
-smesh
-errrr, that's it?
I like SNGs, NLHE, O8, HORSE in that order, don't like MTTs, comfortable playing 9 tables at a time. I'm so old I remember when GTO was called probability triples (this was the U of A bot API and if you know, you know), so this old dog can still learn new tricks.
Any thoughts appreciated!
