I'm not sure if I laid this down too quickly. I'll never know what he had - I just had a strong feeling he had a monster (AA/KK/QQ) and not because of any prior knowledge - simply just because of the way the hand played out. What do you guys think?

Instant fold. If not aces, it's KK or QQ. It's so early in the tourney. No need to bust out with JJ with such low blinds.

It also could have been some other even better hands that have you beaten. Folding JJ here is OK early tournament move IMHO!

Tbh in a dollar tournament with 50bb stacks I'm looking to get AIPF with JJ, pending a suggestion that villain will never 3bet AQ etc.

Could have been something like AKs and he was cbetting on the flop.

re raise all in pre. you cant smell anything through the interwebs and at the lowest buyin tourneys, people will shove or call *much* worse than JJ

in your situation when SB 3bets preflop the main possibilities are:
    a) SB is a donk that thinks 77 is the nuts
    b) SB has a real hand worthy of 3bet that has you crushed
    c) SB has a hand in his 3bet range that you beat (AK)
    d) SB is realizing this is a great squeeze opportunity, possibly total bluff

in all these cases you must expect a continuation bet
if you are not ready to call the CB, don't call the PF 3bet

In fairness, we're getting odds to set-mine if we think his 3bet range is very strong.

that's true, specially with the presence of MP3 and the rather small 3bet

    I called the 3bet incase I flopped a set - implied odds.

I'm not convinced this guys only betting half pot on the flop with an over pair. Most at low stakes seem to prefer betting 3/4-pot when they have that overpair. The half pot cbet seems like AK-AJ to me. Don't think I'm folding here.

lol it tilts me so much whenever people say stuff like this. We get different reads as the hand progresses. The flop is much different street than pf.

As for the actual hand, you didn't really provide us with any reads that suggests we should be folding here. But yeah, min-raising a UTG raise is typically QQ+. I would personally call the flop and reevaluate on the turn, just in case villain cbets with AK/AQ. But then again, I'm not sure if AK/AQ would take the pf like that the villain took. Again, you can't really get good responses without reads. A fold here isn't terrible though. I guess you can stove AQ+, QQ+ if you really want to.

Well in this case we dont get any different info, if someone 3bets pre I expect them to cbet this flop almost 100% of the time. He can still have his entire range on this flop.
