C/raising vs c/calling floaters

What type of situations do you tend to do one? What's your thought process. Let's say with TPTK.
Against aggros I'll like to c/call as they'll probably bet again on the river, unless it's very drawy. But against better players, I'm not too sure. If I check raise floaters, i'm usually only getting called by better. Then on the river I'm in a tough spot. If I check call I lose information and I pretty much give them a free card.

I would either fire again, check/call, or check/raise.
Seriously, this is hardly a beginner's question. I'd recommend that you post specific hands to the appropriate strategy forum.
