I was going to add this to the other thread but didn't want to confuse the thread with different questions but what is the opinion on looking at the cashier while not fully bankrolled for the stake you are playing?

For example lets say your game is husngs hypers and the smallest stake at the site you are playing on is $5 and your bankroll is $300 60 BI (a proper bankroll would be 100 BI +)

My thinking is while not properly rolled that viewing the cashier when on a downswing will probably make you not play your best game so not looking at the cashier while building your bankroll would be better option for your game and bankroll.

But then one could say, what about players that play live, they are consistently looking at their chips since the chip are in play and part of their bankroll?

Similar to your other thread, this is purely a personal/psychological/tilt issue

I am looking at my chips while playing live. But I am not fondling the $ in my pocket, I am not thinking about the additional $ at my house, and I am not daydreaming about my reserves in my safedeposit box. I am playing my game. I am doing my best to play kick ass A+ poker - thats it

I have an issue with this as well during live sessions, I am constantly viewing and monitoring how much I have in front from what I've bought in with.

And I agree with your last statement, needing to disregard what I have in front or am stuck and play to the best capability. IE. playing hands differently because you're protecting your nut.

Actually, If you're gonna put such big chunks of your bankroll on the line that there will be a noticeable difference in your balance, you should be looking at your balance more often to prevent going broke.

However, the correct answer is not to spread yourself too thin by playing higher. The times I sustained bankrolls online for the longest was when I was playing with enough buyins. Most people can't handle high risk of ruin, neither emotionally nor financially.
