PokerTracker 3 & Hold'em Manager. both are two tracking softwares that offer you various of benefits. they both have a graph function, although that's not something you'd like to buy it for. they aren't free of charge, and probably nothing your bankroll alone can afford. but once you move up the limits, it really gives you a upper hand and should therefor be purchased imo

The plan: Play Cash on FTP (2NL) and SNG's (DoN's and 45 Mans) on PS. I'm probably going to be spending much more time on PS than on FTP, but here's to a new year and better play!

Session started out with me immediatly getting into some 5 dollar pots where I folded the best hand in both. Then it went like last night where I ran terribly including AKo<AKo on AK3 rainbow flop. Didn't tilt. Didn't even get that angry tbh. Had some music going and just kept going like my session was just starting. Ended up up 8 bucks and unlocked the tiny bonus I got from reloading 30 bucks onto my BR. I hope my currently 2.10BB/100 winrate isn't my true winrate at 10nl. My graph has huge gaps between my ev line and my winning line so let's hope volume cures it.

Today's results.

Crappy volume but watev.

Yeah... I play 2NL on Absolute. The last time I played online was a few days ago--I lost 3.5 BI over the course of 34 hands. My draws missed. The gap between EV and money earned is the sickest I've seen over a 34 hand sample, lol.

All together I've deposited $100 on this site. This is over the last 4 months I've lost 86 dollars or so (5 dollar SNGs, shots at 10NL and 25NL lol, really bad brm ldo). I've got 13.88 in my account. No rakeback.

I'm not sure what I'm gonna do. For pride, I'd like to grind this 13.88 into 100 dollars or more and then leave the site, but in the past month alone I've paid over $16 worth of rake. Taking $14 to $100 is gonna be frustrating, and I don't want to think about rake paid vs actual money earned.

Basically I'm looking for a decent site to play on to build a BR at 2NL 6max. I don't want to move to FTP until I have $600 and ready to play 25NL (so that I can actually utilize the deposit bonus).

I also made an account at stars in august but never made a deposit (No money in bank account, can only really use credit card for deposits bc im a degen).

Anyone got suggestions for a site I can deposit via credit card and get a decent rakeback deal until I'm ready to graduate to FTP or stars? I'm US fwiw.

On topic:
In terms of BR building I've lost about 22 dollars in the past month in tourneys and SNGs, and +2 dollars in cash. It would be more like 16 but oh well.
My plan is to be playing 2-4 tables of 2NL 6max until I have the roll for 10NL.

Since goals are dreams with plans and deadlines, I hope to find a new site to play on by the end of the month and be playing 25NL by late april.

High point of session: 89Q board, I have KK, I end up all-in on the flop after villian donks into me ... villian tanks, and calls ... with A8 ... I hold up. lol

Low point of session: I hold JQ, raise pre on the button, get min3bet by SB, BB coldcalls, I call ... flop JxQ. Villain cbets 1.00, I raise to 3, he calls ... turn is a 10, villian overshoves, I snap call ... villian flips over AK ... groan.

I suppose the times he spazzs out with AA/KK makes up for the times he has AK and TT (lol at calling a flop raise with AK and TT on that board), but I wish I'd gave myself 10 seconds at least to think about what was going on before I called him

$348 --> $359

haven't been able to play many hands because I'm in the process of packing up and heading back to school... just like one short session a day.

Don't know why I decided to slow play this hand... it came back to bite me. Was trying to carry MP along I guess.

Starting to put opponents on a range and actually thinking about their actions has helped me out a ton it feels like. It is easy to win by just playing your cards at the micro limits, so you kind of have to make yourself ha. But i'm sure starting to do this now will help us later down the road if we can make it further. Good to see you back grinding 10nl!

I run so effing bad. How do you run 5 buy-ins under EV at all effing times...
01-03-2010 , 05:49 AM
BlaneH - I'm having a hard time @ 10nl as well - I really don't know what I am doing wrong.

Reviewing my Histories the following problems arise:

1) Overplaying Overcards and Getting them in vs Sets.

2) 3Bet/Squeezing AK and Getting Shoved on Flop By Villians (And I miss flop)

3) Overplaying Ax/SC on button - Flop top pair and I usually go into Calling Station Mode.

4) Cbets being raised/Called - And Being Donked on Turn

If anyone has any suggestions that would be great - I'm thinking of putting a video together of me playing 10nl soon and maybe I could get advice on it.

My BB/100 @ 5nl: 14.46 (according to PTR - Not on my main comp so I can't check HEM) over 10k Hands

BB/100 @ 10nl: -3.89 over 1.7k Hands (Small sample size I know - But I still feel I'm playing badly)

Bank Roll
- $800

Thanks to winning a $11 Heads up - Which I played due to tilt.

I don't know what to make of my play. This is what always happens when I get to 10nl. I play mostly my same game, inevitably run 5-7 buy-ins under EV and start playing terribly cause I feel like I can't win. It's really frustrating. I'd be stuck even more if I didn't hit a one outer tonight in my usual 10nl of "get it all on set over set" on the flop. I know I'm not playing bad but for some reason 10nl=massive swings for me. I can't seem to beat the fish...this limit destroys my game.

I give up for the day. 7k hands put in already this month and I'm not even up 15 bucks. Should be up close to 60 if running at ev. This is exactly what happened last time I moved up. 6 buy-in under ev stretch followed by me withdrawing cause I hated playing. Trying to tough it out but tonight is the first time I tilted in months.
01-03-2010 , 06:30 AM
thats my 10nl graph. i had a hard time when i moved up, i think i stacked off too light at first, and there's a lot of tilt in there. i think i expected it to be the same as 5nl but i would have to think more about what i think the differences are.

i'm not sure really what i did to my game once the line starts going up, other than run good i actually don;t really review my sessions properly but i'll try and have a look and see if anything changed.
01-03-2010 , 07:31 AM
hmmm, i feel like the difference between 100nl and 50nl 6max is so great. i dunno why i'm getting stomped so hard at 100nl. maybe i need to invest in a coach

Well i'm back in black for the year. Decided to take a quick shot at 5nl, which gave me a whole buy in. With a bit of luck i should be there quite soon. So long as this downswing/breakeven stretch is gone. In the last 5000 hands i only made $1 at 2nl.

My months graph looks like the first chunk of this. And so does the first half of my 10nl overall graph. The huge gaps in EV tell me I'm doing something right. I was super tilted last night. Ready to attack the game again today. Hopefully with better results.

Perhaps this should be in Begginers Questions, but how is the EV on HEM and PT calculated?

Is it the amount you are expected to win with optimal play?
01-03-2010 , 11:30 AM
i think All in EV is calculated as equity x pot size

so if you get it in preflop with KK vs QQ at 10nl for a $20 pot

you have around 80% equity, so your expected value is $16

so if you win the pot you will win $20 and be running $4 above ev (EV diff)
if you lose you will be running $16 below EV

i think thats right?
01-03-2010 , 11:37 AM
Aaah I see, that does seem to make sense, thank you .
01-03-2010 , 11:37 AM
This is my limited understanding of it. Someone that plays higher and has a better grasp of it may post and correct me.

I believe EV is calculated based on the amount of money in the pot and you're equity in said pot.

ROCKA20 (SB): $13.95
Toxteeth (BB): $6.00
enahs912 (UTG): $7.00
kulganx (MP): $2.00
falgas (CO): $6.55
Hero (BTN): $13.10

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is BTN with 2 2
enahs912 raises to $0.40, 1 fold, falgas calls $0.40, Hero calls $0.40, ROCKA20 calls $0.35, 1 fold

Flop: ($1.70) 7 9 2 (4 players)
ROCKA20 checks, enahs912 bets $1.10, falgas folds, Hero raises to $12.70, ROCKA20 folds, enahs912 calls $5.50 all in

Turn: ($14.90) T (2 players - 1 is all in)

River: ($14.90) 2 (2 players - 1 is all in)

Final Pot: $14.90
enahs912 shows 7 7
Hero shows 2 2
Hero wins $14.20
(Rake: $0.70)

So my ev in that hand is around -13 bucks or so since I only have about 4% equity in the hand to hit my one outer. So since I hit it I ran 13 dollars over the expected value of that hand dealt out.

If I had the set of 7's I'd had nice gap between my EV graph and that hand of about buy-in since I was EXPECTED to win 13 dollars but didn't.

good first session of 2010.

please god let this continue.
