Mmmm that sucks. Play PLO2 for a while then when you are motivated again do something like unbjames again and set a "stacking people at each limit"? 10 @ 2NL, 5 @ 5NL then try 10NL again.

I guess it's time to drop down. Just seems like such a cop out. I have to say I'm atleast proud I haven't tilted off my roll with the steady stream of bull**** poker has given me in the new year.

Just try PLO then you won't be dropping down in NL you will just be regaining your feet at lower limits since you haven't played in a while .

Played some MW:2, came back untilted, got sucked out on again, titled off a buy-in. Time to walk away. Think I'm done for the day/weekend/week. Who knows. I haven't felt this angry at poker in since my under-rolled days.

Ha yea I love MW2 for anti-tilt. I'm having a bit of a crisis of poker. I have a lot of RL tilt going on (ex girlfriend tilt is the worst) and I know it's affecting my poker game in a real bad way. I think it may be +ev for me to drop down stakes for the time being until I've sorted my head out a little bit better. I think a lot of my non-poker stuff is bleeding into my poker game. Between shot taking and running bad that's a recipe for bad tilt and I can't have that, especially moving up stakes. Today was a bit of a wake up call and its going to make myself make the right decision.

5nl, welcome back. Maybe if I start running better/feel confident in my game I'll think about mixing in a little 10nl. Let this be a lesson for all the new guys in this thread. You really do need to have your game tight in every aspect when moving up.

Edit:....first hand after posting this. Literally. What do I have to do?

Wow. I just ran worse than I knew was possible in the span of <100 hands. QQ into AA, KK into AA, that wonderful AJ hand, JJ into KK, Wow. Just...I'm awestruck right now.

Time to take the week off.

been killing 10nl since the new year for 9ptbb's over 13k hands.. BR is now at $650 but im gonna be a huge BR nit and wait to play 25nl
01-09-2010 , 02:25 PM
might be worth opening at least 1 25nl table whilst you're still grinding 10nl imo
01-09-2010 , 02:27 PM
i took shots at 25nl and it crushes my soul when i lose a full buy in.. i feel like i play with scared money
01-09-2010 , 02:31 PM
in that case i would defo recommend gradually adding 25nl tables rather than making a sudden switch when you decide to totally move up.
01-09-2010 , 04:04 PM
@BlaneH

Thats some serious runbad - I'm sure you be back on your feet in no time.
01-09-2010 , 04:04 PM
Jake, maybe you could try playing with 60 BBs ($15) if your already "scared money." The first time I played 25NL I started off with that amount an wasn't afraid to lose it. I think it just might be intimidating for a 5 & 10NL reg to move up and have 5 or 2.5 buy-in's on a single table. Even when I first tried 10NL I only put $8 on each table.

Bumble, I think that's a good idea too, so when you really go and "take a shot" you won't be as nervous about it. I think I'll try that next time.

this.

gradually add, and after a 1000 or so hands it'll feel normal and you won't be scared, in my experience anyway.

You could have checked the river but judging by stack sizes villain would have jammed anyway, leaving you with a tuff decision. Make a note that villy calls down light with flush draws (probably str8 draws too) and valuetown his ass next time. GL.

Postnote: Been reading a few tilt related posts lately. My tip for dealing with it is to sit out at that table and make extensive notes immediately on how the hand played out. It helps to keep records of course but secondly it's helpful to rationalise the situation and see where villain can be exploited in the future. And in some situations (rare situations hopefully) you can see why they did what they did, which can help identify hero's leaks. And we all have them. Just my 2 cents worth. Hope it helps.

Top, top reply. Thank you.

I think one area I really need to improve is my 3betting preflop. I'm not betting big enough.

Tilt wise, I feel like I'm constantly getting better at dealing with it. I reloaded and managed to carry on playing my best after this, because I knew I played it well (as oppposed to making a big mistake). My tilt comes from when I make a move I know I shouldn't have, and I then get annoyed at myself. So it's less results oriented.

Two questions:

1: 2nl, do you ever fold overpair A's on a flop of K27 rainbow?
2: 2nl, it is standard for every shortstacker to hit when they are 5% to win, right?
01-09-2010 , 06:20 PM
1. No.
2. From what I've seen at 10nl, yes.

Anyone with 3%+ equity vs me hits this month though so...

Having read your posts, I feel for you.

I've looked over my recent hands and in all the big pots I've lost ($3+) I've been over 90% favourite on the flop or turn.

Bankroll - $134. Slipping further away from 5nl again!
