Is Bodog a long-term solution? If they're allowing US players, won't they eventually suffer the same fate in turn?
04-16-2011 , 01:36 PM
Who knows really. There aren't really any sites that I would say are safe options for US players. fwiw, bodog did go through something similar a few years ago.. and instead of shutting down they just changed their name to Bodog Life.

Because of their sports betting, bodog has pretty much zero chance of ever being regulated in the US.. and they have a huge FU American Government chip on their shoulder... so for now, I think it might be an ok option, along with Merge Network.

It's just too bad the software sucks so bad

+2 buyins in 100 hands or so today... nothing special, mostly just a lot of little pots and stacking a few short stackers.
04-16-2011 , 04:25 PM
Im going to try and build my live BR this weekend I guess, I only had $2k so its gonna be tough at 1/2. I am not sure if I should buy in for $100 like I usually do or should I buy in for the min? (I think its $40) and nit it up? As soon as school is out they have $40 tourneys that I guess I will take a shot at. I also have 1 homegame I play in and trying to get an invite to a second... I guess my goal is to now become a live pro

I think you'll be fine with $100 if that's what you normally buy in for. 20 buyins isn't ideal for a 50bb stack... but the games live are soft enough that, as long as you don't hit a sick downswing, you should be fine.

If you drop down to like 1500, I might consider buyin in for $75.

First off, I feel very sorry for you Americans who can't play at the moment. I hope it gets sorted.

Without trying to rub salt in the wounds, without the Americans playing, the games are so much fishier. I've been paid off tonight lighter than I have done since last year.

I feel crazy lucky for being one of the idiots who consistently withdrew. If I had all my winnings tied up I'd be furious. This really is going to be interesting around here.

FT won't even open for me now. There's a new update, and an Error occurs when I try to install it.

yeah the games are super soft. I haven't been for like 6 months, in which time I have gotten much much better at poker and had some practice playing live, and even then I was winning a decent amount. I just get nervous playing with random people lol, I have no idea why. Its hard because Im a nit and live pokers is no loose, I hate raising to $10 in an un-opened pot from MP and getting 4 calls lol.

yep I am from the US. Northern Colorado to be exact, like 1 hour ish from Denver.

Tried to build my live BR tonight... did'nt go so well... Lost $200, so BR is down to $1800. This was my last hand of the night where I lost the last of my money, so I decided to quit.

Hero AK in MP with ~$100
Villan BTN with ~$115 (older Asian Guy)

2 limps. I raise to 8, CO calls, BTN calls, rest fold.

Flop A37

I bet 20, CO folds, BTN calls

Turn T

I bet 25, BTN jams, I call

River J

Villan flips over AJ

The only other really crap spot was I limped ATo from LP, with 3 players limping before me, BB raises to $8, all limpers call and I fold. Flop is KQJr, and at the end of the hand BB flips over KK for a set and wins against QJ.

edit: going to go back tommorow and try again, but a diff casino. The casinos are about 1.25 hours from me which is crappy, but there about 6 with poker rooms on the same 1/4 mile stretch in the this little mountain town. I went to a room I had never been to tonight, so tommorow I will go back to the room I played a few times last year and had decent sucess at.

Im still up $106 the last month between my homegame and the casino tonight so meh *shrug* but my hourly is now like $4.51 lol

In LP when I know all the limpers are going to be calling I am calling here >70% of the time. You have huge implied odds if stacks sizes are full and you have position so you shouldn't get in too gross of a spot.

Umm...what's this thread about exactly?

I went from having a BR of about 10K on FTP to being really excited that I found 97cents on True Poker from 2 years ago. I'm grinding now!

This sort of applies to both. I raised to $12 with AJs earlier in the same game, got a caller and the flop is AA3r, guy had A3o.

I just have a hard time raising huge because I have played maybe 20 hours at the casino so far, and my best hand so far is that 3 of a kind I hit with AJ last night... never flopped a set, never made a straight or flush... I usually just win with TPTK lol. I run kinda bad live so far...
04-17-2011 , 02:14 PM
Stupid russian fish pwning me. Was up $10, dropped $60, finished down about $18 on the session.
04-17-2011 , 02:19 PM
now 76 tourneys +$86.57 21.74% roi

Yea but 1. you are playing short and 2. live players don't think about bet sizing almost at all. You should be aiming to get your SPR down ASAP with your premiums. If you don't get used to raising it up to more than 4x, expect to play lots of 6 way pots where you somehow lose to J4s.

My weekend:

BR: $1478 (withdrew $600 after the tourney win I took a couple of weeks ago)

ATH, baby

Ouch. I'm only down about $500 including tickets/points/cash so I can imagine how you feel. How come you kept so much $ on to begin with? You playing 200nl?
04-17-2011 , 04:56 PM
Is that graph playing 25NL?
