Hello.

I want to get back into poker again, but am wondering which format I should play. I'm trying to decide between MTTs and Spins (maybe both actually). I've played a lot of Spins before bc the playerpool should be soft, but I find the variance very tough (I lost alot of aces/kings in big multipliers which killed my motivation I remember). Is this the same for MTTs? Or what should I look into to minimize variance? I don't see myself playing cash. My BR is 500$ btw.

Also, is there some must-reads to MTTs/Spins you could recommend?

Hoping for some answers.

Lots of variance in each, More variance in mtts since spins are 3 handed (though the lotto aspect of the prize pool can add gross variance as well.) I reccomend playing both, play spins and when you are bored load up mtts, or play a couple mtts and a spin or 2 at same time.
As long as you are careful bank-roll wise either should be fine for building up a roll

The variance or luck factor is much higher in Spins IMO. ATC are often played in Spins and this decreases your chances of premium hands winning.

OP, I also don't enjoy the variance in Spins, so I'm making the switch the hyper 6 max as my bankroll builder. I play 6 max on the days I am not playing MTT's

If you're "looking to reduce variance" then don't consider either. Cash and/or sngs.

There is a difference, not a lot but in the early stages there definitely is.

At least with spins you don't need to worry about ICM, playing multi street poker, or having a positive roi

MTTs are the most fun things in poker.. running deep anyways. there also the most frustrating.

If you have a full time job, by all means play mtts. If you're disciplined, play cash.
