I mainly play tournaments and satellites and would appreciate some advice on what's the most profitable way to do the rebuy thing mainly for sats.

I normally double rebuy straight away as starting with 2k chips as opposed to 1k buys you some time and gives you more room to maneuver and then if i've built a stack ill obviously top up in the rebuy period so im generally rebuying 3 times.

if i get knocked out there are rare occasions ill double buy back in but i dont generally do this as the blinds will be high and buying back in with like 10bb means i usually have to shove pretty soon which seems a waste.

is this generally right should i be doing it any different?

I ALWAYS rebuy immediately. Having a big stack is huge and being able to effectively quadruple up a single buy-in makes it an easy decision for me.
Always double buyback also. Play well and don't get caught up in the rebuying frenzy and you won't be rebuying a bunch of times so no worries.
I'm usually 90+% committed once I'm in. Unless it's right before addon and I'm going to be a tiny stack-- like you say maybe 10BB and the field is still large-- I'm always going to rebuy. Depends there how many seats there are. I always look for the most seats I can find, typically won't do a SAT for a seat or three. Good luck!

Ive just won my first sateliite. I double rebuyed straight and then added on at the end of the add on period.
