I’m sure you’ve seen a similar post 100x times because when I searched a few came up, but I’d like to tell you where I’m at and get pointed in the right direction.

I don’t know anyone in real life who plays poker and this is my only source to gain knowledge and speak with people so that’s why I’m here. I’m currently playing 10nl on stars and all I want to do is improve, what’s the best way to do this? I’ve watched all of FTGU on RIO and am now an essential member. I see a lot of people talk about Pokersnowie, would I benefit more from that instead?

I’ve never really gone overboard with studying but I am willing too, at the moment I can get about 20-25hrs a week poker time in, so should I split my time or just study for a little while with no play? I have so much to get through on RIO atm. I’m fairly comfortable preflop (however I have no preflop ranges as I don’t want to just create them with my random choosings, I only have rfi) but when it comes to postflop I think I have a flawed way of thinking or I don’t know certain things I should. Maybe it’s just too early for me to have a decent understanding I’m not sure. I know the basics like wet/dry textures, pot odds, outs but I struggle mostly with when to bet and how much.

Is the answer to carry on watching RIO videos and slowly but surely it’ll fall into place? Is Pokersnowie any good? Do I need to just grind loads of volume?

Any help much appreciated as always and if there’s any groups of people at a similar level in any kind of what’s app group or anything I’d love to join. (Not quite sure how people chat to each other in the poker community)

The main thing I’m asking here is what should I prioritise right now.

I'm not exactly sure at what stage your skill level has reached, but dividing your poker time into compartments for playing and studying might be wise.
Maybe you want to play 75% of the time, and watch poker videos 25%, or make it nearer 50/50.
Snowie can be very useful, particularly with regard to building pre-flop and flop strategies, but until you've spent considerable time playing the game and learning from coaches/training vids, it probably wouldn't give you the most bang-for-the-buck. i.e. You kind of need to know a bit more theory, and have some experience of range-building before Snowie's suggestions make any kind of sense.

Thanks Arty, I never knew what kind of skill level Pokersnowie was aimed at so that’s why I asked. I think I’m going to just work through as many training videos as possible before covid ends.

I think I’ll just try and learn 1 skill at a time, for example just studying preflop, or just studying 3 betting until I feel I’ve learned quite a bit then move to other category’s. There’s always the option of trying to learn a little bit of everything but that could get messy.

Using a random card generator and number generator and quizing yourself on what to raise preflop is a start.

for example

You are playing 6 max. generate numbers from 1-5. the number represents your position. use the card generator to generate 2 cards. You can then learn what to fold and what to raise first in with without actually playing. You do need some resources to find out this information which all the resources are avaliable online for free.

other things like player types you can learn how to play against by assigning them to that position and generating a ton of hands against them.

Getting some real poker chips you can practice actually putting in a 2x preflop bet. With learning 3 betting you can practice putting in a 3 bet at 3x the opening bet.

Preparing yourself for live play at the same time.

I do look at some of my hands but it’s hard because if I’m not sure what the right thing to do is at the time then I’m usually not sure when I replay it. However from now on when I get into a position of “I’m not sure what to do here” I’ll post on this forum
