so i want to make this a really serious hobby or even more, ive been playing poker for some months, i started by depositing 20€ in stars (and i only play sng's) and made it up to like 50$ then lost all my bankroll since i wasnt following bk managment, then i deposited again and made it up to about 180$ last 2 weeks, i feel like i know a little only and that i still have A LOT to learn.. i really want to become as good as i can at this game, i really like to play poker but most of the time i feel like i have no discipline and that i cant fold in certain situations, i have time to study and i will dedicate a lot of my time to poker, i have read harringtons vol 1 and im in the middle of the 2nd vol, i would like to know what should i read or do to improve my game, do you guys recommend getting a coach? i stopped a bit playing to study the game.
also ive read that some tournaments players say they should have learnt how to play cash earlier.. i just want some opinions on what i should do to become better and better at this amazing game :P
thanks a lot for advance!

Put your roll in the table , to see how brave you are. Cause you cant succeed in poker without the heart and commitment of a champion . GL OP let us know how it goes.

I meant there is no easy answer to ``how to become good''. Here how I see it.

There are two parts in this game:
- Hand reading. You learn this by playing a **** load of hands and observing what others do.
- Strategy. You learn this by learning the math behind the game, and analyzing your play away from the tables.

others might disagree.

If you like SNG's read Secrets of Sit n Go's by Phil Shaw.

Cash and tournament play can be very different at times. Each one teaches you different things. It really depends on what you're going to play, if you are only playing sngs I would recommend focusing on tournament play.

I would read Moshman's book for SnGs.

Cash games are all about patience. Tourney players often struggle with this since they are used to exploiting fold equity and playing in a game dynamic whereby people are just trying to survive. But in cash games your opponents have all night, and can reload whenever they want. You really need to pay greater attention to your opponents specific tendencies since you will have multiple streets to play vs them and your mistakes can become quite costly, unlike a tournament where you basically weigh the strength of your hand in general and just fire away and hope for the best.

Very good into book to SnG stratergy.

Harrington on tournies: a golden oldie, worth a read.

Imo, you should also look to buy Professional No Limit Holdem Vol 1. its a cash game book, but the topics on hand reading (REM), SPR and so on are applicable to tournies.

I dont play tournies anymore so I have no idea what books to buy other than the above. I guess there will be some good books out there so its worth googling (Also, try and find a book that helps dig deep in to HEM/PT3 HUD stats)

Coaches - get one when you move up past the micros and small stakes... No real need if your a beginner.

Coaching sites, however, are great. Like Dueces Cracked (There is a site dedicated to tournies but the name escapes me) - cheap and the content is amazing - MUCH better than books IMO

GL and welcome to 2+2
