I notice that a lot of posts here are not what I would call beginner issues. I try to ask fundamental questions and share some of my learning experiences. It is my hope that I can contribute back in some small way. Because it is extremely decent of the knowledgeable people here to share with we beginners. When it is clearly in no ones interest to do so. Thank you all. Ok little speech over.

I learned a lesson last night. I was in mid position holding QJ suited. There was an early call, which I raised. The button reraised. Early and me called. Everyone else folds.

The flop comes 44J I am pretty happy with my 2 pair
I bet about 1/3 the pot
Button raises double my bet
Early folds.
I reraise the same. (btw sorry for doing fractions. I don't remember the true amounts)
Button calls
Another 4 comes on the turn.
I bet half the pot. Button calls
9 on the river.
I bet half the pot. Button raises, I call
Button shows his pocket KK and takes the pot with fours full of Kings

Now the lesson here is that with trips on board nothing below a full house is playable. My pair is not hidden. So unless the button is an idiot he must be able to beat my 444JJ

It is hard to throw a full house away. But it seems clear now that I should have. The main reason I did not is that I was playing on four fast tables at once. As a novice player, I actually need a little time to convince myself to throw it away. I need a moment to get over the hardon I have about having a really good hand, and realize that button must also.

So the lesson I am sharing is for novices to avoid fast tables, or playing to many, until your skills are high enough to make these kinds of decisions quickly. Luckily I was only playing micro. This lesson could have been very expensive. Cheers

Firstly did you have stats on the button/why did you call his 3bet?

When the flop comes down your easily dominated by 4x/JJ/AJ/KJ/AA/KK/QQ - Fold when you were re-raised on the flop.

Fast tables > Normal speed - Even when I 10-12 table, I only play exclusively on fast since it increases my hands/hour.

Quit playing and raising and calling with QJ in MP as well to avoid these situations. QJ is a tough hand to play OOP and its no fun. Just tile the fast tables and you should be fine. I always liked them when I played on Stars because you could get more hands in. It did take me about a day or two to adjust to playing more tables at a faster rate.

But I really think the lesson should be about playing stronger hands in earlier positions. Dump QJ

I agree with all of you. But my point is that if I going to make these kinds of mistakes I should not be jumping the gun to higher money making things like fast tables, and mult tables. You got learn to walk before you can run.

A lot of people try to make it all sound so easy. But it is not. It takes time learn. Once you have then work on increasing profit. I see laughable posts all the time from people who have barely read one book asking about going pro.

Remember, if you look around and can't tell who the sucker is. It is probably you.

By the way, I do not use any tracking or assisting software because I think it is important to learn to play without them. I hope that it will make me a better player in the long run.

Thanks also for tip about QJ suited. I had actually thought it was a a good hand to raise the limper. But maybe only in late position. Cheers

A lot of people make it sound easy, but no one ever said it was. Its tough. I suck at poker, but I keep grinding it out, studying, etc. Read through the stickies if you havent, post more HH's, reply to HH's, reread the stickies. If you put the time and effort in to it, it will eventually pay off. Best of luck to you. Keep your head up
