How do you generally deal with this player, in either a real-life or online setting?

One I commonly notice is the self-titled untouchable player that feels a need to call down any other player, I only notice this in an online setting. Often times this player will go on to insult any player he or she knocks out, a really disgusting move. Personally, I do my best to ignore them and attempt to knock them out but I would love to see how everyone else deals with filth.

Online: respond back and threaten him cause I'm a thug.
Real Life: Shut up and do nothing cause I'm just an e-thug.

On a serious note, I just ignore them, it's not worth the trouble.

Anyone who is berating anyone is 99% sure to be a bad player.

Berating fish is -ev for a lot of reasons obviously, and berating another reg for making a bad play is also stupid because we want to encourage people to make bad plays...

I usually respond with "<3", or "Sorry I'm mainly a bingo player, just learning this game", or something clever if I can think of it.

And definitely don't let it tilt you - when idiots start berating you in tournaments it generally means you're doing something right.

I don't know about live, but online I assume they are probably a fish or tilting and hope to exploit them accordingly.

If someone is berating other fish, I sometimes say something supportive to the fish to keep them in the game. If they berate me they get it right back, I love it when I win a pot and someone starts insulting me because I know they are annoyed and probably tilting. This is if I have time, if I'm playing a lot of tables I don't bother.

It doesn't bother me at all, that's what happens when you go online.

What do you do with decent players that berate besides turning the chat off.

when someone posts an insult to another player, I usually say something fairly random in defense of that player. Almost invariably I'll get them to say "I wasn't talking to you!", but I keep at it and soon they're arguing with me and ignoring the fish, which is what I want.

Strangely, a lot of them end up being friendly within a few minutes and say "nice talking to you" when they leave. I think a lot of the time the whole reason they're at the table is simply to be heard.

[haha, this reminds me of the time this friend took me out for drinks. She was this lesbian filmmaker I had been helping on a project, but she was moving out of town. She was meeting a bunch of people for the sendoff at a martini bar.

All these friends are lesbians too, and I learned that she knows most of them through her old job at a phone-sex center (this is before internet-chat-sex). Believe it or not, the dykes that take jobs at the phone sex center do not look like the girl they put in the ad, but I digress...

They're telling phone-sex work stories, most of which revolve around regular customers complaining about the bill. Turns out at least half of their time (their estimate) is spent arguing with customers about bills, and the customers are always being unreasonable. Guess what? the guys that call for phone sex have a serious need for human contact, and don't have the social skills to get it the normal ways. Arguing about the bill gets them about the same thing as phone sex, and costs less.

The guy calling someone a fish at .10/.20 is about the same.]

I dont play live that often so I've never come across this type of player, but online I never have player chat on so its not a problem.

And also at the stakes I play nobody has the right to be arrogant.

... To be fair to the fail-guys, if the women not only don't look like the ones in the ad but aren't even sexually attracted to men, they're getting a pretty raw deal right off the bat, hmm? ;\ A+ story though, would react favourably to a repost.
