Hi, I recently reads people posts about being banning from some sites because of PTR.

I'm also going to buy Holdem Manager (gonna play pokerstars cash games) and i'm afraid of being banned because using this soft.

Also is it legal to buy the millions of hands from PTR to boost my HM stats.

So what do you think?

How can I be banned from pokerstars with HM or PTR

Using PTR is fine. Buying hands is not. Using any hud on stars is fine.

fine = you won't be banned

Even buying hands won't get you banned because it's impossible for stars to know, but strictly speaking it's against their rules.

Edit:

See this link for more info : http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/room/prohibited/

I know PTR is said to be banned but it's used by almost everyone here and no ban so far.

Well I heard that someone that is on PTR while playing pokerstars has been banned.

Anyway, i'm just gonna NOT using PTR at all. But i'm still afraid that pokerstars detect if I already go on PTR.

You will not be banned by using HEM, it's on the allowed programs list.

Now, can someone give me more info about PTR ? (if it's legal, if I can be banned...)

Don't buy hands.

The reason why PTR and similar software is legal is because theoritically, it does not do anything that you yourself cannot do.

All it does is record what you are witnessing. It is no different then you writing everything down with pencil and paper and doing the math yourself.

The reason why buying hands is unethical and not allowed by many sites is because this is something you CANNOT do by yourself. This is an advantage that is impossible to get on your own and so is more in line with cheating.

hope that helps give you perspective on all this

The link posted earlier in this thread also has the answer to this:

# Can PokerStars see my internet browsing history, documents, or other private files and information?

# No. PokerStars takes your privacy very seriously and complies with relevant Data Protection law. PokerStars does not collect personally-identifiable information, other than that provided by the player during account registration and routine security verifications. It is not possible for any member of PokerStars staff to read or copy private data from your machine. For more information, see our Privacy Policy.
If you are going on PTR though I would suggest not doing it while the pokerstars client is running just to be safe I guess.

Not certain but this is what I have gathered reading the threads about this...
Using PTR in and of itself is OK. If you use PTR to look up players while you are playing this is NOT OK. The safest is just don't use PTR at all while your poker client is open.

Also, last time I think I use PTR while looking at high stakes on pokerstars to see the stats at the players.

And now i'm not sure if I want to deposit my money there and play there :S
Cause if they banned me I lose all
