I seem to have a problem with deciding when to quit the tables.

I just finished a session where i was up 1/3 of a buyin or so then within 6/7 mins we found ourselves 3 handed(i should have left then). It was a case of 1 badbeat, 1 bluff, and tilt and my stack was decimated.

If i just had the dicilpine to switch off 2 mins earlier, the blood wouldn't be coarsing through my veins at an almighty rate and i'd not be feeling such an idiot for what i'd just done.

It may be easy to say just do 30 min sessions or whatever but i find myself just lost in time as soon as i open up a few tables.

Has anybody else had this problem and if so how did u overcome it.

Quit when you:

-No longer are on your "A" game. Like if you are tired, unfocused, drunk, etc...
-If the table has dried up, and you are left with regs.

Some players use a time limit: "I can only play for one hour before I lose focus"
Other players play as long as the game(s) are good.

Losing at the end of a session doesn't necessarily mean you should have quit sooner unless something (see above) gives you reason to. You could have just as easily won a bunch at the end...right?

for me, the second I start thinking, I should stop playing soon... i stop then, or else I start thinking about what I'm going to do after the orbit I'm playing, and don't focus on the hands

you should always keep playing until youre sick of the table or game. i dont give myself a limit when i play online.

example, i was playing two .25/.5 games the other day and i had doubled my two $20 buyins. i thought about quitting while i was ahead, but the game was too good to quit. i ended up making $100 in about an hour and a half.

never give up! never surrender!
