I think it's too early to go pro. I'm still grinding STT's and MTT's. Haven't went to cash games yet. Any suggestions how to get my monthly poker imcome up.
Maybe 100nl would be pretty good.

I think you're rolled for 100NL. Taking fools' buyins is ~100 a stack. I honestly think grinding MTT's is harder than playing cash for a living.

it might be my naiveté, but i believe him.

Learn SnGs, learn ICM, learn how to multitable 20+ tables. Play 100 $20+ SnG's 5 days a week. Easy game.

If you haven't really played cash yet, starting at 100nl is not a great idea as you'll likely get eaten alive at least for a time.

get some hands in at 25nl or 50nl and make sure you have the fundamentals of cash down first.

Definitely do not quit your job w\ only 3k. Also i would listen to what BeerMonster said and start a little lower and get your feet wet 1st. See how you feel\doing after 1st 20k-30k hands and move up\down accordingly.

Have you ever had a break even stretch?

3k roll is nothing unless you have a few months living expenses saved up so you can handle the swings.

Or of course if you live with your parents and have no bills/living expenses, then go for it.

Yea I have had many breakeven points. They suck. Make you feel like you suck. But in reality I know I don't suck and it's just part of the game. I was running really bad past couple days but still managed to breakeven and not take a huge downswing. And its been a long time since I took a big downswing. Maybe 5 or 6 months now.

Jumping into 100NL as a MTT player with a 30BI BR is a pretty bad idea.

Looks like you play 6max SNG's. If you want to play "professionally" consider moving to FTP and going for black card.

Keep play MTT,STT and learn it better and put more time .

then go ahead and quit. Just my two cents...

If you just don't want to work - poker is a lousy way to make a living. Believe me - grinding for a living is WORK. There are some cool freedoms attached, but most of them are illusions.

Not to many people like working for a living. I have my own business and it I still hate working. Few of my friends have gone pro in the past, but only one is having great results. People score on MTT all the time and can take their BR way up, but than can come back down to earth. You can always quit your job, but before quiting make sure you have a saving that can last you for a year or two. Oh, the NL100 is a big game. Your BR is too small for the game and the player's at this level are all semi-pro. GL

I agree with BeerMonster. If you havent been into cash games much yet, start out at 25 or 50 NL for a few months and make sure you are comfortable and profitable there. Build some more bankroll in the meantime.

I'm actually in the process of opening my own business. I think what I'm going to have to do is just be semi-pro. That's probably the best fit for most people in the long run.

Like I told OP in PM, its good but it depends on how much volume he can put in on a consistent basis; like if u can only play 25 games a day while playing all day then its prob not worth it. I also told OP other things he should think about like a backup plan and living expenses etc.

imo its ok but I recommended him stay at his job a bit longer and grind out more money just in case or keep poker recreational (but still take it serious and grind out side income) which I think is the best plan; I would be playing cash games over SNGs just b/c the pay off is so much bigger since there are a lot more stakes u can climb vs SNG stakes; longterm Cash is the way to go.

Also I don't know how long it took to put in that many games so thats also a big factor and can he keep up that winrate?

Seriously, all you have to do is play $22+2 6maxes on FTP. shoot for an avg of 75 a day to get the 3x multiplier for black card that I think comes out to like 40% rakeback with ironman bonuses. You can clear like almost 2k/mo in rb alone.
