I play at $2NLHE on pokerstars. This is comfortably within my bankroll but I am a beginner. In two weeks I'm down about $5 from an in initial bankroll of $70. I think one of my problems is not knowing what a good win rate in terms of cents is good at this level?

Is the most common way of measuring the rate of earning, per big blind? What type of rate of earning would be normal or avergae for this limit? As of now I buy in with $2 play about 100 hands and expect around $3 as a good game. Am I asking for two much on average? Is my buy in a bit small?

Thanks

Your expectations for a beginner is way to high.

If you expect to win 1 $ for very 100 hands that is the same as you expect to win 50bb/100 and while its posibel to do this at NL2 you have to be pretty good at the game to do it.

For a real beginner you should be happy if you can just slowly but steadely increase your roll day by day.

You shouldent play poker because you expect to win lots of money in a short amount of time, because you wont do it.

Play because you have fun, and enjoy the game. Focus on making the best desicions all the time. Spend time to read books, watch videos, read forums. and then you will eventually become a winning player, where you might be able to move you in the stakes, and or withdraw some of the money you win.

Thank you, just needed things put in perspective a bit.

Is a big bet the same as a big blind? I'm trying to sort out my bankroll management, struggling to find a comprehensive overview.

a big bet (BB) is twice the size of a big blind (bb)

This is from the beginners section..

"For conservative limit hold’em players, I would recommend a starting bankroll of around 200 big bets (ie. $100 to play 25c/50c). For those who don’t mind reloading, feel free to shorten your bankroll to 100 big bets or even 50bb."

At 25/50 would the BB be $1? In which case 200 BB would be $200 starting bankroll?

This is for limit poker.
For no limit, you usually want 20-25+ buy-ins.
That would be 50$ for NL2.
And you can try a shot at NL5 when you have 100-125$ ( but be ready to move back down if you lose to much )
