I started with 1500 playing 1/2 nl. got it up to 4000 and wanted to take a shot at 2/5. I'm down to 2800 and I know I should play 1/2 NL so I don't go broke, but I have a hard time not playing 2/5. What are some ways/tips I can use so I stay up at 1/2 NL and make the jump to 2/5 once I have a big enough BR. It's tempting to just continue playing 2/5, once you get a taste of 2/5. I think the play in 1/2 and 2/5 are similar. also when should I make the proper jump to 2/5? Once I have 5000? 8000? 10,000? thanks for your help.
Playing 2/5 with 2800 is like asking to go broke. I don't think you even have enough to play 1/2. I think you should maybe play 50/1 until you hit 5k then take a 5 to 10 buyin shot at 1/2. If the money means nothing to you, and can be easily replaced in real life, then by all means play 2/5 and hopefully run good. I'm not trying to dampen your fire but in my experience these endeavours tend to end badly.
It sounds like you already know its a bad idea but are going to play 2/5 anyway. Most people need to bust their roll at least a couple of times to learn the importance of bankroll management.
Everybody hits a downswing, yours will bust you.
