unknown villain.. just sat down at table.

Full Tilt Poker $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 7 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

Hero (CO): $25.15
BTN: $25.50
SB: $45.69
BB: $7.78
UTG: $53.79
UTG+1: $7.64
MP: $28.20

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is CO with A K
UTG raises to $1, 1 fold, MP calls $1, Hero calls $1, 3 folds

Flop: ($3.35) 2 9 A (3 players)
UTG checks, MP checks, Hero bets $2.18, UTG calls $2.18, MP folds

Turn: ($7.71) 6 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $5.01, UTG calls $5.01

River: ($17.73) 3 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero requests TIME, Hero bets $16.96 all in, UTG calls $16.96

I decided not to 3bet here vs an unknown UTG raise.
This seems like a very standard question... but is shoving the river correct here?

There's no way I'm shoving here with one pair vs an unknown.

I'd bet a little more on the flop and the turn and then the river shove would be a little smaller.

But yes very standard and very profitable river shove here.

I don't think you're beat here often enough for this not to be profitable.

If UTG flopped a set and c/c'ed all 3 streets, props to him. Worse A or big pocket pair like JJ-KK that hates the A but just can't fold are far more likely. Easy 3 streets of value.

NH imo. I'd be a little nervous getting in in versus an unknown but I haven't observed many villains capable of C/C-ing with a set on 3 streets. As WordWhiz said, if villain is capable of that kind of patience, more power to em. I figured you probably got looked up by AQ/AJ; turns out villain is even more awful than that though
