200NL means? 200NL means?

So, I'm used to seeing NL levels described in terms of blinds 1/2NL 2/5NL etc... I generally play cash games obviously.

When people are writing 200NL are they referring to max buy in for a cash game or a $200 tourney?

I've picked up most of the lingo by reading, but I swear sometimes people are using it to refer to tourneys or cash games.

Thanks

Nope this is exclusively for cash games. 200NL refers to $1/$2 blinds.. Just times the Big Blind by 100.

Eg:

3/6 = 600NL
5/10 = 1000NL

and so on...

Thanks. It was bothering me.

Is it used more often when referring to online vs. brick & mortar?

For example I think the 1/2 game at Excalibur is a $300 max. How would you refer to that? I guess I'd just say 1/2NL.

The terminology is used almost exclusively online where the max buy-ins tend to be very standard at 100BB. Live players generally refer to the blind structure.

Also, in live games, players can often buyin for more than 100 times the big blind. Especially when you watch those big cash games on TV, like High Stakes Poker. Some stacks are playing with 300BB or even much more.
