OK, there's a new casion opened in my town and they have a game called 'Texas Holdem Bonus' where basically you play a sort of fixed limit game against the house.

Overview:

You post an 'Ante'.

You are dealt 2 hole cards. You can look and fold or bet. Obv folding looses your ante. If you continue you can bet the flop BUT only 2 x your ante.

You can check or bet flop. again turn bet can be ONLY 1 x your ante.

You can make a final bet when turn flops, again only 1 x your ante.

If you beat house (who is blind until cards on back after river dealt), you win.

When you win you receive 4 x your ante.

You only collect on initial ante when you hit a run or better.

Thoughts appreciated on theoretical optimum hand/range and am I going hit this optimum range enough to make it profiatble (was I lucky on my initial session?). One 3 hr session (approx 90 hands) produced a profit of 15 antes by playing looking to play J8 or better. I'm not the best at theoretical odds analysis hence the question. Luck or is this beatable?

if you get paid 4x your ante when you have a straight or better this is probably a beatable game

preflop you only fold 52o, 42o, and 32o I believe - and you bet on the flop and turn if your equity vs. a random hand is higher than 50%

To clarify:

When you win with less than a straigh you win 4x your ante if all streets bet.

If you win with a straight or better, you receive 1 extra ante - which is your initial ante posted.

So if I post on all streets and win with less than a straight:

5 bets posted, 4 won, 9 back in total.

If i post on all streets and win with straight or better:

5 bets posted, 5 won, 10 back in total

not beatable then, unless you have lots of knowledge of others' cards

i remember playin this game, and not only was beatable but tons of fun... You lose most of ur money on the bonus bet... so you should find a median where u can make some sort of profit in the long term... i found that 5 bucks was a good point...

i love bonus get a good run of 3-4 hands you can triple your money, also only like playing by my self dont like others at the table

When one of the casinos near me first started spreading this game they didn't seem to care that me and my buds were showing each other hole cards, which made the game very beatable. Eventually, they wisened up, and now it is very not beatable.
