Am I a criminal? I went to Marina Bay Sands casino to give a quick look about what games are provided, maybe find a poker table. Passed one slot machine and noticed too many numbers blinking - hit cash out and slot machine printed me out 3k SGD cash ticket. Waited 5 minutes for a owner and then left.

Can a gamler left slot machine to take a pee or a lunch and return his/her lucky machine later? I've no idea. Is it possible that I'm banned (as a thief) next time I try to enter same casino as they have all of my information?

Actually I watched a show of slot pros few years back and sometimes they left winnings to next customer for a good luck or something. That's why I believe I did right thing and after all I waited for him/her 5-10 minutes.

I'll bite.

For sure, you have created trouble for yourself. Whether you get banned or prosecuted depends on the casino, how far they want to pursue, and whether or not you turn the money back in when they come to you.

Casinos also have a policy that money left in the machine is not their responsibility, which frees them from having to make whoever left that money whole again (should they choose to go that route). So, if they want to they can find a way to reimburse the guy who left the money, but that has nothing to do with the fact that they can, and probably will come for you independent of that.

As others have said, what you did is defined as theft (leaving any discussion of morality out, that's simply the definition). You have a much better shot of getting away with something like that on the street with "found money". A casino is probably the lowest likelihood of success. If it's not a trivial amount of money you're very unlikely to get away with it.

The place I play at, I left 13$ in a machine the other day (I was stuck 3K, ready to leave and in my haste didn't even realize I had money left, just made my last bet, lost and ripped my card out). They insta-knew it was me, and made multiple attempts via multiple methods to get me my money back. Kind of reassuring, actually.

ive always seen casino play the "not our problem" game. drop a chip on the floor and someone picks it up right in front of you? too bad.

some one grabbed chips out from in front of my wife on a 3 card table.(chips were still in the betting circle) they let it go.

imo, they dont care and you wont hear about it.

in such cases we - the bettors - have many thoughts about: morality, conscience and many other things which cannot be said about the bookmakers that took money from the players from different reasons and I never heard them about morality .....
