So I take the room at Bally's and long story short I play 3 card poker for like two hours and walk away up 600 (one hand a guy at my table got a straight flush, the very next hand I got one, pit boss wasn't happy).
Quote:
As for the pit boss, I have no earthly idea he had a stick up his ass all night. The table was just pouring money out, there was a 3 of a kind and 2 straight flushes within like 10 hands.

The pit boss switched dealers like 4 times like that would do anything.
The pit boss switched dealers 4 times in 2 hours? That's outrageous! That's like once every half hour. Did you happen to notice a pattern?

Poker dealers change once every 40 minutes usually when dealing cash games. 4 times in two hours does not sound that far off...

A lot of places I have been to the table games dealers switch every 20 mins, and the poker dealers change every 30 mins.

Sorry I took so long haven't checked the thread in a while.

To answer a couple of questions:

Didn't have one drop of alcohol on this trip (first time I went to AC and didn't get bombed).

Tipped the dealers often after big hands.

I was being nothing but polite to the staff, the only "showboating" I did was after a big hand me and my buddy I was playing with would high five and maybe a little louder after my straight flush because that's like a months rent to me. Once again I did not belittle the staff in any way.

I went this past weekend and didn't play hardly at all, lost a hundred bucks and then log onto my account when I get home and I've been comped a room...in Vegas. LOL

My Tier Score is 811 and my Rewards Credit Balance is 4,500 on the nose. Have no idea what these numbers mean though...I had 45 available comp dollars when I checked my card down there.

Well there you go.

Your comp ballance is only $45.

With that tier score you are only Gold. Your not getting a comped room sorry.

4000 tier points gets you a platimum card
11000 tier get you diamond

Diamond you will always stay for free, platinum maybe a discount.

The problem with table games, you get very little comps / tier scor credit.

Rule of thumb:

You earn 1 tier point for every $10 coin in in a video poker machine
You earn 1 tier point for every $5 coin in in a slot machine
Table games you have no idea....

I earned 6000 tier points one day, that's $60,000 coin in a video poker machine...
And only got $60 comp dollars from that, but my tier score gets me my rooms.

ok sorry about any errors in the above post... was on my cell phone.

The Tier Score is what really determines your comps. (rooms, other promotions you may receive). Basically, if you have a higher tier score, it doesnt matter how little or big your play is, you are going to get a room.

They may have other promotions going where if you put in certain "hours" or meet certain requirements that you will earn a free room, but those will depend on the casino. I never heard a promotion like that at Caesars Palace for example.

If you want to start receiving Comped Rooms and other Casino Perks / Free Play offers / Bonuses (all depending on the casino property), then start playing Slots or Video Poker.

Some casino's run a "Diamond in a Day" promotion where if you put on 3,000 Tier Points, you will become a Diamond. Now, it takes me 3-4 hours playing $5 Video Poker ($25 a hand) to get 6,000 tier points in a night. In a 24 hour period you could easily get 3,000 Tier Points playing $1 Video Poker. There was a Diamond in a Day thread on here, but I am not sure of any Caesars properties that offer this promo anymore.

IMHO - Video poker is the best Casino game if you want to earn comps. There are many different video poker games though, and depending on the game, there is a different expected return overtime based on basic strategies for that game. Video Poker can be very profitable, but it could also kick your butt if you don't know what your doing.

I am glad to point you in a winning direction at Video Poker and help you start earning some rewards plus, hopefully win something!! Though the win is not guaranteed...

The problem with Table Games, you could be sitting there betting $100 a hand, and get a very small rating. You simply don't know the exact method of earning comps / tier points.

If you were playing $5 a hand on a Video Black jack machine, and played 1,000 hands. I could tell you right now that your tier score would be 1,000 ($5 Coin-In Slot = 1 Tier Point).

So if you were playing $5 video black jack, you would have earned many more points than what you got for all your play from January 1st, till now toward your tier score.

Keep in mind. If you earn Diamond this year (11,000 Tier Points), it will be good till March of 2013!

Gotcha thanks for you helpful post. It seems they were comping me because I was a new member and wanted to gauge me and are now seeing I am not a huge player and don't want to comp me over the summer and such.

I am 21 going on 22 so I suppose I have time to build my score up. I just started going this year (obviously) and I'm gambling with basically my spare spending money, can't afford to go too big.

Don't even wanna know what you earn playing poker for 5 hours lol, 4 tier points?

Just keep in mind the Tier Score resets every year. But once you earn it in a year, it is good Two!

You can ask the floor people in the Poker Room and they will tell you. I remember I asked at Caesars in Vegas, and it was a couple points an hour. I don't really remember, but with all the twinkling lights and sounds just outside the poker room door, no way I can play poker!

Look into playing Video Poker a little bit. If you could find a 9/6 Jacks or Better machine, that would be Ideal, next would be 8/5 Bonus Poker. $100 can go a long way in a $0.25 machine.

There's a bank of progressive 9/6 Jacks or Better machines at Caesars AC. The return is always above 99.54%.

Or, if you want even more variance... there's also a bank of progressive Double Joker machines, which always return above 100%. That's right, a plus EV game, and you can earn a platinum/diamond card that way.

Both are 25 cent denoms, 5 coin max bet. You can play more than one machine if it's not busy (3 machines are in a row). Caesars sometimes has 7x reward/tier score days, so you earn points 7x as fast.

Perfect strategy can be found at www.vpgenius.com.

They are located next to the toga bar, near the hookers.

Now go get 'em. The machines I mean.

Op. The 25 cent JoB progressive is going to be your new best friend.

Acoplander... you got to check into that multiplier info. Usually multiplier days apply to reward credits (comp dollars) only, not tier score...

Also, this year, at least at my local properties, they changed the multiplier for video poker.

Seven stars used to get x9, now they get 5x
Diamond used to get 7x now they get 4x
Platinum used to get 5x now they get 3x
Gold used to get 4x now they get 2x

This is for video poker, slots is still the same multiplier... and I never seen any multipliers for tier score.

UPDATE: I guess someone at Harrah's saw this thread because they gave me 4 2-night trips from 6/1 to 7/6. Not too shabby.

Another question, the last time I went one of my friends suggested I tip the guy when I check in to see if I could get a room. I ended up getting a nice room in the Water Tower at Harrah's but I gave the guy 5 bucks for it. It wasn't until reading these forums for a while that I realized how cheap I looked. What can I expect to get if I slip the guy a 20 for a Wed/Thurs night stay?

That's a new one...

I've never tipped the person who checks me in.

Usually my host (if you have a players card you have a host) sets it up.

I'm very new at the whole AC thing. I usually go to Harrah's and get there late at night and there's usually a long ass line to check in so I just go over to the Seven Star/Diamond Express line and I have never gotten asked to show my card yet (I only have Gold). I go up to the desk and the guy asks me for my ID and credit card and I had a 5 dollar bill up on the counter and asked if they had any upgrades (I was booked for a 1 queen bed room in one of the crappy parts of the hotel) and he hooked me up. Idk if that is a host or w/e you call it...

Does players card = Diamond or 7 star in your explanation?

I only have like 4,500 tier points. My family went down to AC today overnight and I gave them my card to use on some slots and video poker.

Any players card you have a host. They may not reach out to you unless you are diamond+ but if you need something, call and talk to a host.

Thank you kindly. I really haven't "needed" anything other than an upgrade with a tip which I can seem to get fine with the guy at the check in desk. I think I'll just stick with that strategy for now.
