Firstly, when it comes to starting tables at $2.5/$5+, regs will definitely notice this difference and will refrain from starting games on Stars, and instead choose to start on one of the other sites. This leads to less HU action and less games on Stars overall.

Also with no heads-up tables being offered, any potential HU action that will go down at a 6-max table will pretty much always be between 2 regs. So edges aren't going to be huge, and rake should be adjusted accordingly. Reg battles at high stakes do take place from time to time. On Tuesday, I played on Stars all day $10/$20 and a little $25/$50 HUNL with another reg. After realizing how massive the rake difference is, we have decided to move our action to Borgata. You can check the Borgata/Party lobby right now, we will be playing heads up ($10/$20 or $25/50 NL) there all day today. We both would honestly much rather play on Stars, but when the rake difference is that high, we have no choice.

If you take a look at Borgata.com’s site it says the HU rake is capped at $1.00 up to $10/$20 and $2.00 for $25/$50. But I have been playing these games since the beginning, and the rake cap was dropped to $.50 for all HU games about a year ago, they just haven’t updated their site.

I hope Stars does the same thing and takes this request seriously, because right now the HU rake at mid-high stakes is just unfair and fixing this would be mutually beneficial.
Thirded. Many more NL games would start at 5/10+ if you cut the HU rake in half (because Party/Borgata software is garbage), but you aren't giving us a choice. You are not offering a competitive product. Globally you may get away with higher rake because, a) there is a large pool of recreational players who may be willing to start a game heads up, and b)withdrawing money from second tier sites is a pain. Neither a nor b is true in New Jersey.

Tech Q - is there any way to set preflop default open to 3bb? Right now it's a bother to have to select the table and increase the bet from minraise to 3bb before opening preflop.

piggy-backing on the hu rake discussion: can we get Table Starters for 2/5 and higher?

Stars is never going to lower their rake

Spot on. I literally flew back to NJ to check out stars and consider moving back here if the action and software was good enough. Initially I loved it, but like Chabra I play a lot of hu and battle long sessions with regs, start games etc.; after a few sessions I realized that playing on Stars just wasn't feasible for this reason.

Hopefully Stars will realize how much action they're losing and will continue to lose if they don't change this.

anyone else get this promo offer from stars?

"We're so excited to welcome you to PokerStars NJ, and to show you we really mean it, here's a little welcome gift from us.

How does a free cash award worth between $5 and $10,000 sound? Simply log-in and enter the Star Code ‘gift’ now, and we’ll randomly select your cash award, and credit it to your account straight away!

The money is yours to keep - there’s no deposit required, and no earning requirements or restrictions. Just click the button below to find out how much you’ve won."

problem is when I log on there isn't anywhere to type the code "gift" and when I click on the link in the email it just starts downloading the software. Is this a legit bonus or just false advertising to get you to log in/join?

You should easily be able to determine if that email came from PokerStarsNJ by expanding the full header which shows you the original source address. How to do that depends on your email provider but it's easy to find the proceedure for yours with a Google search. Obviously you don't download s/ware via an emailed link you're not sure of

That said... You can do the below at no risk:

Launch PokerStars > Log in > Click "Tools" in right sidebar > In left pane click on "Star Code" > in the centre pane type your Star Code into the blank field [gift] > Click the "Submit" button at the bottom > Done

If this is a legit promotion, then I assume you'll immediately get a popup or an email or an sms telling you what you've won. If it's not legit then no harm done.

Thank you Dylan. I sent out a few tweets and fb messages to pokerstars the day before o8 sngs were added. Whether that helped or not, it's worth noting for anybody else trying to add suggestions/improvements to Pstars.NJ..

Pokerstars lobby does not pop up when it's warning me of being inactive. Anyway to adjust this in the settings?
05-06-2016 , 04:19 PM
Dylan, when I click on a omaha hi/lo game, the lobby says it's nl hold em.

How long has it been taking for echeck withdrawals and withdrawals at Resorts?

I just did a split withdrawal using both. I was hoping to go to Resorts tonight to get it. I mistakenly assumed it would be close to immediately available (like the other sites)
05-06-2016 , 05:04 PM
Never mind. I can wait for the echeck and although the site says up to 72 hours for a Resorts pick up, I got the email that it was ok in less than 2 hours.

05-07-2016 , 02:01 PM

Not sure why they e-mailed me the offer on May 4th. Guess some of you guys are wondering the same thing.

I get emails for deposit "mega bonuses" whenever they run them but I'm never eligible, they probably get a few extra deposits from those that open the client then decide to play some poker anyway.

Hey Dylan

About the May 14 party, is there anything "officially" on the schedule before 7.30 ?
Trying to do a little travel planning

so the promo is just shaking the branches to find previous account holders who havent signed up again -here's the response to me

*******************************************

Thank you for contacting us.

Please note that this promotion was offer by our marketing department to all the New Jersey account that didn't use the quick action processes, like your account "xxxxxxx".

Also note that with the quick creation tool you were able to use the same user id, but you decide to create a brand new user id.

Unfortunately you are not eligible to receive this promotion as it was offered to your old account.

Thank you for your comprehension.

Now stars is just trolling me, got this email a few hours ago:

"Time is running out to claim your free cash award of up to $10,000. Simply log-in now and enter Star Code ‘gift’ to claim a reward of at least $5 before it’s too late!

There’s more! Use the Mega Bonus to get extra cash added to your deposits every week for four weeks."

So I log in and enter the code just to get the not eligible message again :/

Also glad I checked the thread before trying the mega bonus, sounds like that one doesn't work either. really leaves a bad taste in my mouth to get emailed offers for bonuses that don't work. Not impressed at all with stars so far.
