Hello, I choose to open this topic because their are alot of smart people here and I am thinking about making a live changing decision.

About me: I am 24 years old, I have never worked for a boss (except for some work for like a couple of weeks max)
Since I've quit school I started grinding to make money, I just searched for a lucrative opportunity and tried to make a profit... This went from grinding 10 €Turbo Heads up's with a huge rakebackdeal too betting on sports too eventually starting my own underground bookie.

I also got into online advertisement, I basicly rolled in, almost by accident I had a huge youtubevideo and youtubepartnership, so I started making decent money of that.

Now I'm in a fase in my life, I have a decent amount of money, I am good in a lot of things, but not in alot of things a boss would ever hire me, and if I am honest, I will never, ever, ever, will be happy working a decent job with a decent paycheck every month. That's not me, I need the excitement, I need the competition, the motivation, I need to be able to do my own thing.

I want to start my own business, which specialises in online advertisement, the beauty of it is that I almost have no costs to start. (Laptop, internet, and the paperwork/money to make it legal, and an accountant) and I already have a starting income from it, a little bit experience and an average off 10 000people /day who I can use for promotion to make the business grow.

- Should I go for it?
- Is this retarted? Am I doomed to fail knowing I have no education in business?
- Tips? Things I should really look at?
- Are their certain tricks to make it a fiscal masterplan(example: it's an online company, so is possible to open it in country where the taxes are really low/non existent?)

My apologizies for the writing mistakes, it's 5 AM in my country and I'm wasted, but the question is really serious.

Thank you

This is literally the worst question of all time. I know you are just looking for people to give you the go ahead so here you go: You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Working for other people sucks, obviously. Go for it.

No offense, but I hope you're not pursuing advertising in English speaking countries.

I freelanced off and on for around 4 years in web development and marketing. After I finished uni I freelanced full-time for around 7 months. The money was good, the being my own boss was good, the free time whenever I wanted during the days was good, but there's also a tonne of negatives to working for yourself while you're so young, in my experience.

My problem was that I was always working by myself, I had no interaction with other people during work hours (except the odd client meeting once or twice a week), I had nobody to turn to if I had a problem (particularly difficult when you need a second opinion on something re web development). Being a sociable person all of this was compounded and I couldn't really take it any longer. There's also the issue that you always take your work home with you, since home is where you work (well it was in my case). It's also difficult to set definitive limits on when you can work or check your email - it's too easy to open your laptop at 9pm and work until 3am in the morning, then wake up late the following day etc. Then the cycle repeats!

When looking for a job I made sure I chose a workplace environment that I like - all of my colleagues are youngish and very good at what they do, the office environment is awesome, everything is very relaxed, and it's doing something I love and am able to learn more about from people that are more experienced than myself. I still freelance and run my own side projects for some extra cash (and because I still really enjoy it), but I'm super glad I have a nice environment to work in right now in my early 20's. By the time I hit my mid-20's I hope to have created at least one side project that's making full-time income and will allow me to go it alone. Also don't underestimate how much knowledge and general people skills you pick up from working with a team of people. I feel like I could handle freelance clients much better now than 6 months ago.

We're kind of in the same boat. I love online advertising and marketing, so it made sense for me to join a digital marketing agency. It's awesome - you get to input on potentially hundreds of other people's businesses and can offer strategy on something new every week without having to use up your own money (though I still do make a bunch of side projects for this purpose). You can learn what works and what doesn't from your colleagues experiences rather than the hard way yourself.

Sorry went a bit off topic here. Don't jump straight to the conclusion that working for other people sucks. when you've not even experienced working for anyone else. It really doesn't suck if you choose the right workplace and industry - don't just settle for a job, but actively seek a workplace where you think you can progress and learn.

I still have no idea what the business you want to start is going to do.

This isn't therapy or your diary - you're asking a business question. So cut the personal melodrama and give us some specifics. Then maybe you'll get some good replies.
