View Poll Results: Silver in an inflation doomsday
Yes, it would be viable specie. It and gold have a strong historical basis in this regard.
10 55.56%
No, it's an industrial metal. It would have as much buying power as copper ingots.
1 5.56%
The entire concept of metals as money is outdated and irrelevant in todays age

Very interesting article on metals and inflation here.

http://www.garynorth.com/public/3416.cfm

Any thoughts about silver billion in an inflationary scenario?
If I said that people in an inflationary doomsday will be transacting in copper and aluminum ingots, that would sound absurd. For those who promote silver as inflationary specie, why?

Why disparage copper? Copper pennies are worth more than a penny. Hell, even the copper clad zinc pennies we have these days are worth of order a penny.

In other words, pennies could actually survive a hyperinflation as money.

I have made a large sum of money buying and reselling pennies in the past year. If anyone has LARGE quantity of copper pennies for sale please PM me I can work something out that is beneficial to both of us.

"Summary: The rate of price inflation, 1976-2008, has always been positive, year to year, but since 1980 has been under 4% per year."

I can't really take this author seriously since he believes inflation has been under 4% per year since 1980. THEN HE GOES ON TO SPEAK ABOUT M3- CAN YOU PLEASE SUPPLY THE M3 NUMBERS THAT THE AUTHOR IS USING SINCE M3 IS NO LONGER PUBLISHED BY THE FED???

""The other Ms (M2, M3, MZM) tell the same story: no predictable correlation. They rise constantly; the price of gold gyrates wildly.""

Also, I have to wonder... why does the author focus on only a 28 year period, WHICH FEATURES THE LARGEST BULL MARKET IN STOCKS IN ALL OF HISTORY.

There have been massive price manipulation and NUMEROUS GIGANTIC SALES BY MANY CENTRAL BANKS during this time period.

The author g oes on to state :
""It does occasionally get dumped by central banks or the IMF, which announce their sales in advance, which sellers of all other commodities never do, since the announcement tends to lower the price.""

OF COURSE they announce the sales ahead of time in order to lower the prices- they are selling these metals to private owners ( wallstreet crooks, major players who are pulling the strings of govt )

THIS IS SIMILAR TO how our fed gov't announces they are taking stakes in 9 major banks - and then the stocks of all of those banks go up- and THEN after these banks have shot up, some by as much as 84% in one day, THEN the govt buys the stocks AFTER they have gone up in price in order to SCREW THE TAXPAYER as much as possible. Why didn't the fed just buy up those banks and then announce they did so afterwards? Oh wait, they'r ebuying the shares from their wallstreet crook friends, and they want their crook friends to get as much money as possible... so they can buy up more metals!!! One hand washes the other.

Go read the wikipedia on silver- it has tons of varied, diverse uses. Historically speaking, how does the world get out of economic crises? with wars!! What metals do we need to make some wars? Tons and tons of silver, copper, platinum, etc, etc!! How do we pay for wars? Print lots an dlots and lots of money. How do we get out of debt? Print more money!!! Seems like very good times for anyone holding precious metals in the nxt 3-5+++ years

Also, your poll kind of sucks... whats up with option #2- copper is never going to be worth the same amount as silver. You can use silver in place of copper in almost any situation, and the silver will function much better than the copper in many instances. That's like saying if we have an inflation doomsday, 1 honeydew melon will be worth the same as 1 banana. No rational person would ever pick the banana over the melon, no matter what is happening- it just wouldn't make any sense. The melon will always be worth more than the banana, they will never be equal.

GUYS TEH WORLD IS GONNA END SOON.... EVERYONE HORDE LOTS AND LOTS OF PLASTIC DUCKS! THIS IS YOUR ONLY HOPE OF SURVIVAL. THESE DUCKS CAN SQUEAK SO LOUD THEY WILL SCARE AWAY BANDS OF ROBBERS.

THESE DUCKS ARE SO RARE YOU WILL EASILY BE ABLE TO TRADE 1 OR 2 AWAY FOR A YEARS SUPPLY OF FOOD! AND IF YOU CAN'T FIND ANYONE TO TRADE WITH, AT LEAST YOU CAN EAT THE DUCK. YOU CAN'T EAT SILVER, IT DOES NOT TASTE VERY GOOD(TRUST ME ON THIS)

THESE DUCKS CANNOT BE MASS PRODUCED LIKE PAPER CURRENCY, BUT INSTEAD THEIR PRICE IS CLOSELY TIED TO OIL PRICES. STOCK UP NOW WHILE YOU STILL CAN< THIS IS THE BUYING OPPORTUNITY OF THE CENTURY.

In all seriousness though, I hope inflation is under 4% again this year and next year.

You use one of those Rydales? Been thinking about it myself, but I can't see storing a pallet of pennies in my basement.

PM me with offer to buy (probably have 30lbs right now) and maybe we can work something out. I do find about 30% pre 1982 in my part of the country at this time.

****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 133.

Myself and another member had a bet that if we quoted one of your posts with a totally unrelated, random image as the sole reply, it would elicit some long-winded, blowhard response from you. After much debate, the random image we settled on was a rubber ducky.

The terms:

The line was set at 150 words, he had the under, I had the over, even money.

The post in question could ONLY contain an image of one, single yellow rubber ducky. (for example, it could not be a red rubber ducky, as that might cause you to assume something involving communism, etc)

General Conspiracy Bonus:
If you hinted at conspiracy anywhere in the post but it was under 150 words, it was a push.
If you hinted at conspiracy anywhere in the post but it was OVER 150 words, he paid me 2-1.
The standard Miriam-Websters definition of "conspiracy" shall apply.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/conspiracy

Specific Conspiracy Bonus: If anywhere in your post there was mention of the Rothschild's, the Jews or the World Bank, immediate 5-1 payoff regardless of how many words the post contained. This payoff will be erduced to 2-1 if the post also contains mention of Congress/Senate, Bush or China.

Shipping your mobnies now, sir.... Bastard.

Finally, someone understands that politicians are all crooks. If each country said to their politicians, "We've had enough of your corruption. You are all getting life terms in jail. We'll do without your kind for the next decade." the world would be better off.

7stud - I think you are mistaken, the politicians are here to HELP us. Would you like a nice vaccine shot? Rioting got you down? Come on down to our newly designed FEMA camps, we'll take good care of you. I'm sure we will see radical change in Washington after the election. Barack Obama is NOT an insider. He Will GET THINGS DONE and hold congress accountable for that 100$Billion in porkbelly spending they just got... and maybe after that he will abolish the fed.
