NEW BUSINESS IDEA: Opening a Bingo Parlor &/or "Adult" Game Room--playing slots for "prizes" NEW BUSINESS IDEA: Opening a Bingo Parlor &/or "Adult" Game Room--playing slots for "prizes"

I'm always on the lookout for new business ideas & concepts--can't help it, it's just my nature. Anyway, what's your opinion on the following?

I know of a HUGE retirement community that is pretty far from any actual casinos. By & large senior citizens aren't overly tech-savvy & probably aren't into playing online, plus they've got LOTS of free time to fill, so I was wondering about the logistics & pitfalls of opening a bingo parlor or "Adult-Only" game room in the area.

Obviously there would be zoning issues w/ a bingo parlor, and it might not even be allowed due to county/city ordinances.

But what about opening a game room filled with slots & games of chance, where players don't actually win money, but tickets, which could then be exchanged for prizes, like perfume, jewelry, gift cards to local restaurants, Walmart, Home Depot, Visa Gift cards, etc.??

Kind of like when you take your kids to Chucky Cheeses . . . they play silly kids games, the game spits out tickets, which the kid takes to a counter and exchanges for candy or cheap toys.

I'm really surprised there isn't a D&B's in the Kissimmee / St. Cloud / Orlando area...

Ok, understood, but I'm talking not about something like that. I'm thinkin of a big room full of slots, player wins "tickets", and those tickets can be exchanged for "stuff", i.e., perfume, gift cards, etc.

I was mainly trying to get at the idea that a "fake casino" for adults already has been thought of in concept. There are also other manifestations--there are "slot machines" at gas stations here in GA where you either play lotto or win cash equivalent at the store (no booze included).

This doesn't mean your exact idea won't work (just because a restaurant has been thought of doesn't mean it's impossible to open a profitable restaurant) but there probably won't be a massive untapped market. Firms that already exist doing similar things have probably experience shortfalls and problems that prevent them from growing on a very large scale. Also, you are going to have to put considerable legal effort into navigating a regulatory framework that is stacked against you (ie good luck getting an "adult entertainment outlet" or something being considered an outright permitted use on a piece of property; a smart city would push you into a conditional use permit that would quickly hamper you profitability).

Good luck if you try this. It's a decent idea but there are definitely hurdles, as usual.

This is the chucky cheese idea with a substitution of slots for arcade games, just like you stated in the OP.

I thought your title meants "adult" as in pornographic and "prizes" as in a lapdance or more if you hit the jackpot.

In California you can run these for real money prizes... as well as have slot machines in with the Bingo so long as a portion of the funds goes to charity. My good friend's father in law helps run one. I dunno what it's like in Florida but it's worth looking into

I think this would be hit. I actually thought of the exact same thing a couple years ago. I suggested it to someone who owned a bingo parlor and he thought I was crazy. i sure hope you do this. Maybe even a play for fun casino with no prizes.

I think he might have been scared of losing business.

This is a great idea and would be a hit!!!!!!

Evidently this idea is a hit--read the following article in the month's issue of BLOOMBERG BUSINESSWEEK:

"The Casino Next Door" How slot machines snuck into the mall, along with money laundering, bribery, shootouts, and billion$ in profit.

Yeah, you can't drive half a mile in the Ft. Myers/Naples area without seeing "casinos" like this.
