Alright, so we need to change the design. I'm cool with that. Is wordpress really the way to go vs a cms like joomla?

I think I've got a decent microniche with a fair amount of searches and a great paying area.

I've no idea about CMS to be honest someone else here will know better than me. I don't think it should matter than much but the WP ones are more popular (popular = more resources for you).

Which CMS you choose generally isnt affected by what you want your site to look like. Wordpress is a fantastic way to start a small site that isnt generating revenue yet IMO. There are full fledged businesses that run on Wordpress as well but it will be heavily modified at that point.

Here's a pretty good series of pie charts that says a lot about the different cms's.

http://trends.builtwith.com/cms

Basically, wordpress is easiest to use, has lots of built in features, readily available themes and plugins and therefore has the lion's share of the whole market.

But there are clearly reasons that highly trafficked and more advanced sites use Drupal and to a lesser extent Joomla (v. v. little personal experience with these, but the trend seems pretty clear).

Anyone have any thoughts on the new TKA 2.0 methodology? They encourage going for more difficult niches, and targeting long tails so that you have a chance vs. the bigger players. A few I found that seem to satisfy their criteria for advertiser competition are forex, online business, and travel. However, when I looked into the long tails for online business, even those seem extremely competitive to rank for. Any thoughts?

Hey,

I'm looking for a writer (preferrably from England, due to time zones), who knows the poker world and can rewrite some of our content and also write newsposts etc. We are a website with lots of potential so this might be a pretty good opportunity. Please let me know if you would like this job or know anyone who would like to be part of this. Just shoot me a PM!

Had another article published about "creative seo" http://kaiserthesage.com/innovate-se...es-using-ebay/

Hey that's a great article really enjoyed that one. Our title is 'Make Games with Construct - Scirra.com', would you suggest we try longer truncated ones? I was under the assumption smaller precise titles would carry more impact

Ebay is in a unique position as one of the most well linked sites on the web they are ranking those terms because of their immense overall domain authority. I think targeting highly relevant term is often ideal for a website like yours but it varies, I was able to apply it to one domain with good results thus far but I also didnt have great highly targeted terms I could get either with that domain.

Suggestions on how to build the traffic / user base of http://www.outflopped.com/ ?

Change the meta-title of the home page to something accurate. Outflopped - Answers to Poker Questions & Poker FAQ or something would be a start. I'd have to do keyword research to figure out the best way to go. And then you should SEO it further. Your sites main traffic is going to be longtail IMO and you'll receive those hits naturally through random searches.

You should find a bunch of the most common poker questions that aren't going to be super competitive like "the history of poker" and stuff, answer them, and throw some links at them.

To keep the users coming back and to get more people to answer questions, you could institute a points system for who gives the most answers, and entice them to post with a free gift each month or something. Or you can just pay people to answer questions.

Registered to TKA through your affliliate link Phresh. It has quite a bit of good information even though it can seem a bit disjointed at times.

Currently working on some commercial viability tests. Particularly centered on gemstones which I'm very interested in and have some knowledge on. It seems to be getting a nice number of hits and has medium competition according to the Google Adwords keyword tool.

If someone could shine their light on that choice it'd be appreciated though.

Really hope their parts on the actual building of a website are good, because I know absolutely nothing about that yet.

Insant,

Thanks. After you've read the whole eBook (Members Area >) you should have a great idea on how to get everything setup. If you have questions after completing that, feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to help you as much as I can.

The websites are with WordPress which is a very easy to use CMS. It's great! This will be covered. Good luck man!

Hey guys, anyone have any thoughts on how I could improve my site, www.farmersfurniturehq.com? Particularly, it has a very high bounce rate for visitors who get there via search.

A site like that will always have a relatively high bounce rate. People are probably looking for online stores that sell farmers furniture, not an article about it. That's why you need an AdSense block in there to give them an alternative to go to.

Ok cool, do you think for a site like this it is better to go with affiliate links and product suggestions (gives me free images) or adsense?

I couldn't tell you. I would assume AdSense since people are probably more likely to buy any type of furniture in person. They're probably Googling to do price comparison and curious browsing so an AdSense click is more likely than a purchase. But again, I'm not 100% sure and you should experiment with both (separately).
