Using the following cars: Accord / Camry

What is a better investment/choice?

2019 with 150k miles
2012 with 100k miles

I'll hang up and listen

As an investment you're better off utilizing the money as an investment into something else as these cars' value would decrease over time.

Spoiler:
Hope that helps

How much does each one cost?

9k-12k price point

my f150 literally marks its territory with gasoline down the highway with a 62 mile commute (31 + 31 )

the gas savings will cover the payment as long as continue to work there

but in general i keep hitting this same choice regardless of the model vehicle

same value...1 is older w low miles 1 is newer w higher miles

would you rather have the newer version with cooler tech and better body style but the engine has been run harder? or vice versa... ( no nissan versas please )

You should, assuming that your situation isn't precarious, buy the one you want to buy.

It is that simple.

With those models and similar price point plus fact it sounds like you put 15-20,000 miles per year….I’m picking older model to get extra 3 years for my money.

I would not buy a car with that high of miles - I think the sweet spot would be something with say 40k-70k that has been depreciated heavily already but yet still has plenty of miles left without big repairs. Over 100k it's anyone's guess what will happen and depends how the vehicle was taken care for - too risky imo and the car prob looks like a pile of junk anyways

I was just thinking that you'll probably put way more than 50k miles on your car in 7 years so you might as well buy the newer one

Plus, a 12 year old car is really really old. Does it have blue tooth? 2019 prob does. The tech alone is prob way better. Parts not as old, more efficient...Also, in terms of gas mileage (since you mention it) you'll probably do better with the newer car. Dunno about efficiency standards but they do go up over time. Dunno if that's applicable between the 2 cars. Also the tech for gas usage also improves over time

If you don't care about any of that, then I guess consider your own usage? If you're just going to beat this sucker up then maybe you just want the one that had 10k per year usage v 30k per year...

Also, consider resale value

Check Consumer Reports for each model year. The reviews may help you avoid a bad model year (which is probably rare for Toyota Camry).

actually there were some camry's with poor rating on cage and structure safety

My last car before the truck was an E class benz and my dad had an 03 e55 amg so I am picky on sedans

I think Honda Accord turns out to be best of class and outshines the camry in every category except for brand loyalty/ and value retention based on brand recognition

almost every accord or camry i test drove was a rebuilt title or had extreme high miles. Nobody is selling these things, and for good reason.

I ended up with a 130k 2008 civic for 6400. It is butter smooth with no issues other than bad tint back window which i know is a $200 fix for bad tint. Buddy put in an upgraded stereo with bluetooth and backup camera. (but you can get those things for $5 that you can bluetooth older cars through a radio station. They are like $5 on Amazon i had an Arvsita in my truck they are great)

These little rice boxes are nice on the highway I am happy even though it's older

last night my tequila-fueled wife literally told me now she wants a new car after I was begging her to get a new hyundai and let me take her pristine honda crv.

wives... am i right?

When I was a valet, the nicest sedan I drove had to be the Lexus LS460; Super smooth with lots of power.

IMHO 50k miles isn’t “that” much more usage comparing the 2 vehicules once they passed 100miles but 7 years absolutely do , especially if u live in a northern area (snow, etc).
I would go for 150 miles .

How much do electronics matter to you? I had a 2013 car for a long time that lacked a backup camera, CarPlay, etc. All things being equal I prefer to have that stuff, which I'm guessing you'll get with the 2019.

this is most important questions

Id get the less mileage car if electronics dont matter to you. Check crash ratings via wikipedia if you really cant decide
